The newly christened yearling had no qualms with escaping out from underneath the watchful eye of his mother. Every day he tried to wander farther and farther away from his siblings and Aures to satiate the every growing need to wander. He felt no shame in slipping off either. His siblings were boringly quiet and offered nothing in terms of knowledge for the growing youngster. There were times Aures would teach them something useful, but those moments didn't happen enough for the gray and tan colored boy. He wanted to see more, he wanted to do more, and he knew full well that there was more out there for him to observe. He wanted to see and experience it all and he couldn't do that when hindered by his family.

There was always the intention to return of course. The familial bond wouldn't be broken no matter how much he detested being tied down to one spot. More and more he felt himself thinking back to the day they'd encountered that one large male that he now realized had probably been his birth father. The words "they're cursed" played over and over in his head, but what exactly had he meant by that? Considering how pissed off their mother had been to see the man ... well he hadn't brought himself to upset her by asking any questions about him. He was insanely curious, unhealthily so, to learn more about him and a small part of him wished to run into him once again without the company of his brothers or mother.

He'd slipped off early in the morning without letting his family know where he'd wandered off to. He made no move to cover his tracks just in case they noticed he was missing later. At the very least they'd be able to track him down. Mostly he just wanted to be alone so he could explore more. So he wandered until he reached a beach and spotted the island in the distance. After crimson eyes settled on it it took him only a few seconds to head to the water and after that he didn't stop until he was on the beach of the island.

Rough paw pads squished in the sand and the boy shook himself of before looking around him curiously. Vermilion gaze followed a pair of white doves as they flew to a nearby tree and screeched about his presence. Ears flicked around him curiously before he headed deeper into the forest. Surely there was more around here than just noisy birds?

As Summer crept on he seemed to become more and more bitter with each passing day. He knew full well what the end of Summer meant and every day that drew closer to the season’s end filled him with dread. He had always been closed off before but now that his dream seemed to be slipping further and further away he had all but completely closed himself off from everyone except his mother. He felt untethered from Abaven and as time progressed heh had begun to spend less and less time within its borders.

The island was far south of the Thicket and the Rapids and had taken some time to get to, but that hardly mattered to him. As far as he was concerned he could have been on the other side of the planet and still wouldn’t have given a damn. The island was lousy with birds all of them cooing and gurgling until it seemed to be the only noise coming from the place. The ground was littered in snow white feathers and all around him seemed to be the smell of bird lice and rotten eggs. What annoyed him most of all however was the weakness he observed in the small creatures that dominated the island. They were a far cry from the hook beaked buzzards his useless sister had shown him, and he suspected that if he got his jaws around one of them he could easily crush its entire body. He snorted; even deer had antlers and hooves, these creatures were entirely weak and as far as he could tell existed only to become food for greater and stronger creatures.

A commotion from the other end of the island caught his attention as a good number of birds fled inland away from the shore. Curious the lightning bolt trotted toward the smell of salt and sand to investigate. He stood at the tree-line, his golden eyes following the stranger on the beach curiously. He looked to be about his age and around his height but his eyes…His eyes were what caught his attention. Ember red and blazing just like Kane’s, but with a lightness to them that he could have sworn he had seen somewhere before. “Corentine” his mind rang and he dismissed it instantly, not possible.

“Hello.” He greeted calmly, his posture straight as he slowly stepped down the slope to the beach toward the other male, the end of his tail held in a slight and friendly curve.
