Just let her die. Heather's head was fuzzed over as her paws scraped against the desert floor. Kicking up sand, her throat was parched and she felt as if she was going to give out at any moment. With her, that may have been the case. Anxieties and fears swarmed her like a plague. Her eyes glazed and she simply just didn't seem like she had a soul in her. From her hazy memories of what happened that night and what was happening now it was all just blurred together. Who was she? She didn't know, Heather simply didn't feel like herself she wasn't connected at all. Her paws shivering as she took each step more and more over the dunes. She was running wasn't she - rather she was crawling. Eventually she collapsed though, her lower jaw colliding with the sand below. Heather wanted to just stay like this.

I'll show you how a heart can never fail

As much as the male enjoyed the lands his mother had claimed for the pack, the valley and the lake got old rather quick. Patrolling it daily wasn't exactly giving him the same sense of wonderment he had about the territories as when he was a kid. He hadn't explored much of the west yet so he'd set off from pack lands to go see if he could find anything worth exploring.

What he hadn't really remembered was that most of the lands in the west contained the damn desert. While there were some interesting things to explore in some areas, ones like this one were just downright boring. He could have easily found a cave somewhere else, but instead he'd stupidly just traveled towards the dunes thinking that maybe, just maybe, there might be something worth seeing.

Nope.

Dunes, dunes, and oh look, more dunes. Sand had worked itself in between his toes and he was glad his pelt wasn't overly long either or else he knew he would have had a hell of a time getting it out of his fur. He was just getting ready to turn around and go home when he spotted a figure collapsed in the sand. Curiosity, mixed with his already helpful nature, drove him forward and as he got closer he realized it was a female wolf. What was she doing way out here?

"Miss, are you okay?"

Someone.... someone was speaking to her. She lifted her head, looking over as if at nothing. Her gaze did completely look past the yearling. She didn't know what to respond, after all what more was it for her to waste her breath onto this world. Her paws buried themselves in the sand further, the warmth underneath comforting. If she were to be buried alive, maybe just maybe. Yet her body, it yearned for water. When was the last time she'd even eaten? She didn't know. As she simply stared off, her throat let out an exaughsted gasp of air continuing on for a few moments before she simply laid there with her head raised and jaw slightly agape.

I'll show you how a heart can never fail

Rory studied the strange female for a long moment as she looked at him. Her eyes seemed kind of glazed and she was obviously exhausted as she couldn't focus on him completely. He stood in complete silence as she didn't answer him and instead buried herself further into the sand. How could she stand to do that? her coat looked thicker than his and obviously she wasn't used to the desert. How could she be if she was here of all places? Any smart wolf wouldn't try a trek through the sand dunes without at least some knowledge of the area. There was very little water unless you knew certain tricks to find it. Thinking of water he supposed she needed some. Her exhaustion looked like it was partially coming from starvation and dehydration. Water was definitely was first on the list.

"Hang on just a few minutes, I'm gonna find you some water."

She probably wasn't going to like the water very much, but if she was smart she'd accept it. He glanced around for a moment before he spotted what he was looking for. He glanced at the wolf one more time before he padded off towards a particular cactus. He would have dug for water, but finding damp soil nearby would have been more difficult and she didn't look like she was going to be traveling anywhere any time soon.

He stared at the prickly pear cactus with a fair amount of apprehension. The fruit on top was what he wanted, but even those still had spines. This was not going to be kind on his mouth, but she needed water and this seemed to be his only option. Couldn't she have gotten stuck somewhere where there at least was some more water sources? He took a deep breath and reached up to latch on to a piece of the fruit with nothing but teeth. He made sure to keep his lips and tongue away from the fruit and with a slight tug the fruit made a ripping sound before coming free. He dropped it quickly and the paused for a moment to assess how many tines were on it. He placed a paw on the fruit, something that felt a lot like getting stabbed by tiny little teeth, and then began to pluck the needles out.

Once he was done he picked up the fruit and padded back to where he'd left the female. Rory placed the fruit down in front of her and the backed off to sit a little ways away from her. "Eat that, it contains water. It'll help you from becoming dehydrated. Maybe once you feel a little better I can help you out of the desert if you'd like? In the mean time you could tell me your name?" He said with a small smile. "My name is Ruaidhrí Adravendi."
