Twilight was slowly sweeping over the gorge, the deep circular bottom of the cave-pocked gorge already dark with shadows though the rim and the few stunted trees were still touched with fire from the setting sun. A normal enough evening for the area, despite the mists that already had begun to gather in the low-lying shadows.

The sun sank lower and lower upon the horizon, and then... was gone.

The instant the last sliver of sun disappeared, a brilliant flash of green light illuminated the sky with an intensity that startled a small group of caribou into fleeing. Something in the air had changed. It was like the taste and feel that preceded a lightning strike, yet somehow different. Something... something had changed.

How strange! How spooky! It seems some sort of rift has opened between our world and the afterlife, allowing the living and the dead to mingle for the space of a single thread. A few guidelines to keep in mind: the dead are ephemeral, meaning that they are not solid and so cannot touch the living, nor can they kill them or obviously be killed by them. Unlike Somnium, characters posted together here do not need to have known each other previously or be blood related. We ask that no more than the first four (two living and two dead) characters be posted here. If you already posted to the other rift, please do not post to this one to allow others to have a chance! Don't worry if you miss this one! With one rift opened, the fabric of reality may be thin enough for more to open as well...

Maybe she was part of the sky, a god like her family intended. But with a flash of light her spirit felt like a rocket shooting down onto the planet. It took a few moments after the lightning for her body to escape the rift, just nonchalantly walking out into the real world. She didn't know she was "alive" as one would say, just another part of her everlasting dream.

Her eyesight was completely intact unlike her life here before, but her right eye which had been previously blind was leaking a black blood like liquid. She was unaware that this was happening, but the rest of her body was beautiful and fresh at an age of about two years.

She wandered the gorge just padding along with her usual depressed expression. Ears laid back and a slight frown with her relaxed features, she wasn't expecting to meet anyone else here especially the ones among the living.

OOC: Just thought I'd add in that Chione may get super crazy spooky here, Charon hasn't haunted her since she died but he may be voiced through her or something. IDK i figure out

Things had been quiet now that Echo had left; it had become far too cold for such a southern bird to survive and he had left Spider once again to travel South. He expected that this time they would reunite sooner, shortly after the spring thaw rather than finding each other in summer only to part ways again within weeks.

Without the bird Spider had gone back to the north, the only place where he had an advantage hunting. For the time being anyway. He had gone much further north than he had before when they ran into the horrifyingly large and intimidating male, but Spider unfortunately couldn’t shake the horrible feeling of loneliness. He missed Echo, and he missed Gabe, and Natiel, but most of all he missed Shiloh. He seemed to have collected more people to miss than people he could spend his time with, and it made his heart ache terribly.

The brilliant green flash illuminated the sky and against his better judgement Spider ran forward, hoping to find the source, but instead finding the gorge. He could see someone ahead, a woman but…There was something wrong about her, something he couldn’t quite place, there seemed to be a thick fog at her feet because they couldn’t be seen at all, as if she were draped in a thick black curtain, the only thing he could really make out clearly was her back and the top of her head. “H-h-hello?” He called hesitantly, hoping to get her attention, then all at once regretted it as he saw the thick black fluid seeping from her eye.
