Asharya was not what one might call 'lazy.' She was, however, what one might called 'motivated to do as little work as possible for maximum gain.' It was a distinction she held near and dear to her heart. On rainy days, or rainy moons as this one was shaping up to be, it was much easier to find prey that had run afoul of the weather than it was to hunt them down on her own. Did that make her lazy? Of course not. She was merely an opportunist.

The night before had brought torrential storms, which she of course had stayed awake late into her sleeping hours to watch. She rose with dawn, yawning but excited for what the day would hold. She knew there were bound to be broken branches and landslides, swept away trees and creeks which have overflowed their banks. There was something about the ferocity of a storm that she had loved since youth, and it was something she hoped would never go away.

The nearer the youngling drew to the falls, the more aware she became of a certain sound. At first she could not place it, but eventually pegged it as something crying out in either pain, distress, or both. Well, wherever either factor existed it was likely to be a more entertaining afternoon for all involved, as far as Asha was concerned! She picked up her pace and pressed forward until the young fae came to stand at the far end of the waterfall's pool.

Debris and other such ilk had spilled over during the night, creating a mound of flotsam at the base. The largest pieces had gone ashore but the smallest still bobbed about in the mist below. From within a gnarled mass of mud, root, and branches the howling continued. Asharya crept closer as cautiously as she could (read: Just under a dead sprint) with the hopes of learning what could possibly be making such sounds without it realizing she was there. Asharya squinted, peering through the tangle, but all she could see was darkness.

Suddenly the yowling cut off, and she could feel a pair of eyes lock onto her, forcing her hackles to rise. "Seems like you've had a difficult morning," she called out, voice brimming with false swagger, bolstered by curiosity and adrenaline alone. A growl emanated from the cage's interior, a harsh and coughing sound that might have even been laughter. "You joke? This is every morning. Big fun. Good to wake up," a voice wheezed out. It was a rasping voice, certainly male, though seemingly with an unusual grasp of the words it used. Asharya could not help but snicker as well.

Close enough to see at last, Asharya found within the tangled mess a short but muscular feline. Larger than the sand cats and caracals she sometimes saw wandering the canyon's fringes, this one had a dark pelt mottled with the faintest of patterns. His front paw was pinned in a rather painful looking position between two logs. "One minute I sleep, the next here," he spat out. Asharya grinned.

In the end it was bargained that she would help him out and he would pay the debt back, some way or some how. After all, it was pretty nice that her Mama had Lydia around, right? The way Asharya figured, Rafael could do all the heavy lifting and hunting for a while and she'd take a little break. It was worth the bumps and bruises she got extracting him, that's for sure. They sat there on the edge of the falls, panting but free at last. The only question was, what now?

"Talk" "You" Think

Asharya is chaotic and occasionally hotheaded. Thread at your own risk!
