She was thankful to live in the slightly warmer area of the lands whenever winter showed up to freeze all the herbs she loved so much. The frost still hung over everything and the light dusting of snow across The Range showed that even the south wasn’t safe from the winter weather, but it was much better than she imagined it was like in the north at this moment. The dried grass crunched under her paws as she walked and her breath made clouds of fog around her muzzle. Maybe her trip out here would be in vein, but any attempt at bulking up her herb stores was a worth while one in her opinion. It was the only way she knew to be helpful to the pack, but really the reason that was more important to her was finding them to give to her daughter. Herbs and healing had become pretty exclusively their topic of conversation. She honestly wasn’t sure what to talk to Daelos about otherwise. The young woman was turning out to be an even stronger healer than herself, but she wondered if that was going to doom her to the same lone life that she had. There didn’t seem to be much time for love in a life full of herbs. Zuriel paused to nose at a mildly promising half-wilted bunch of leaves that had been frosted over before they died completely. Her ears remained perked up to listen to anyone that might show up. Being alert and wary while she was outside of the pack lands was just second nature now. She wondered if there would ever be a day when she could relax completely again. |
