BEEN CHASIN' DREAMS

It was snowing! Fat, heavy flakes fell from the sky. The night sky was dark, but for the first time ever, someone had secured a light source for them. Sathanus had brought back a strange bundle of glowing mushrooms. Apparently they grew underground somewhere. Whatever that meant. Their light had been steadily fading through the night, but it made the snowflakes stand out at the mouth of the cavern. Wonderment sparkled in the mismatched eyes of the pallid babe. Da had demanded that if Divo was going to sit so close to the mouth of the cave, one of mama's stinky pelts needed to be draped over her little shoulders.

So here Divo lay, covered by a thin deerskin, watching the snow fall. It was late, and everyone else was settling in for the night. Mama was going to tell them a bedtime story tonight. Da said he would stay and listen, if she wanted him to. Divo wanted him to stay. He was big and warm, good for cuddles.

This moment wasn't right. Not yet. Craning her neck awkwardly, the babe squinted to the depths of the den. "Dom!" Divo called softly, hoping the littlest sister was still awake. Dominika always loved to watch things happen, and the backlit snowflakes tumbling from the heavens would probably be right up her alley. "Dom!"

Just because I have backup doesn't mean I'll use it

She had been snuggling with Da after her long day of adventuring and getting one on one time with Ma. Darya and Divo had spent a lot of the day elsewhere or in the den but she had enjoyed the time alone. It was peaceful and nice to not have her sister chewing on her or another squishing her and using her as a pillow. Though right now she lay with Da between his front legs and under his neck with her head out. Though when Da used her as a pillow it was okay. He didn't typically force her to stay put, in fact all it took was a little wiggle and he always let her up, every time without fail.

Her ears perked as she was called by Divo. She lifted her head and looked to her sister. She'd been watching the outside for so long and Da had made her wear one of Ma's deer pelts. She looked towards her Ma who was Still getting ready to tell them all a story, almost like asking permission first. She was precious to them but didn't know exactly how precious. Da let her up super easy and even gave a gentle nudge to her hind quarters to reassure her it was okay. His only warning was to join her sister under the pelt or she'd have to come back in. She was okay with that so long as Divo didn't want to chew on her or something. She moved closer until she was at the pelt. Then she nosed her way under until she had crawled up beside her sister. The sight before her that Dom presented to her was in a word, beautiful. She glanced from the side of her eyes at Divo. Her chin stayed down and everything about the look was even submissive. Their Da caught it but said nothing, though his eyes showed his worry at this.

"Вау ... Это так мило." Her voice was quiet, breathy even. She watched then quietly and amazed as each flake that fell close was illuminated just enough. She leaned on her sister's shoulder gently and tentatively. She watched and after a glance back at where her mom was tending to things inside did she let out a breath and whisper. "Диво? Я думаю, что тебе нравится больше всего ... и затем Дарья, но я думаю, что они оба жалеют меня ...." She let it be unsaid that it scared her to be the least liked. She didn't want to be a regret. She knew Ma treated Divo a little different, like she was special-er but Dom didn't understand why just yet. She did however know that their Da was always worried about her running off or someone coming too close to her, and their Ma seemed to be worried too, though not to Da's extent. She was still the smallest and definitely smaller than a bunny.

Should it matter to her? Should she worry too? Da hid things she could tell, but did Ma as well? She watched her breath roll from her lips in puffs. The way the snow fell had her in awe too. But she had to wonder, did Darya and Divo see what she did? She knew she was smart and that she saw things differently but just how different was it?

JINGLE BELLS, BATMAN SMELLS

Dom came with only slight hesitation. Da had to give her a shove, but she toddled over. Dominika burrowed herself under the hide, and was instantly captured by the backlit snowfall. The fat flakes caught in the dim light of the mushrooms were enchanting, and Divo wondered if the snow would ever become a boring thing. The pale child caught the attention from Dom, and turned to look at her. She was always so frightened, like she actually thought Divo would hurt her. Was their play too rough for Dom? Perhaps Divo should stop. Everyone was so scared of her, and it made her sad sometimes. Da liked it when she bit his tail, and mom didn't mind when she smacked her feathers around. Why did Yaya and Dom hate her?

The soft vocals of Dom alluded to her obvious wonderment. "Вау ... Это так мило." Warmth was exchanged in earnest as Dominika's smaller form leaned against Divo's own. A soft, happy sound was uttered. They were quiet for a while, just watching. They were warm, and they were happy. Right? In her soft and timid voice, her sister said "Диво? Я думаю, что тебе нравится больше всего ... и затем Дарья, но я думаю, что они оба жалеют меня ...."

One paw would clumsily rise as she tried to lean to the side and give her sister a shove. What was this about? Looking her sister in the eyes, she tried to make her face look like mama's did when Divo said something dumb. Brows close together, but not in a mean way. Whether or not it came across that way was up in the air.
"Нет, глупо," The child hissed, stifling a giggle. Dom was so dumb! Of course mama and Da loved her! So stupid. She should change her name to Dumbinika. She shook her head a lot, trying to make sure Dom understood how wrong she was. "мама и Да люблю тебя целыми пучками. Вы любите Да, всегда следуйте за Домом, смотрите Дом. Мама тоже следила за Домом, рассказывала истории Дома, прижимала Дому. Я тоже люблю Дом, собираюсь быть друзьями навсегда." To make her point clear, the youngling lifted her closest foreleg in hopes of pulling it across her sister's shoulders. Sure, she might end up squishing her little sister a bit, but it was a hug. It was supposed to be squishy.

A sabretoothed cat pulling a sleigh appears before you. "Happy holidays!" he purrs as he throws gifts to everyone. Then he leaps away again, but he calls over his shoulder before he disappears from sight, "May your season be merry and your future prosperous!"
