The titan was on his elbows with his nose in the dirt and his rump in the air when he felt the urge to sneeze begin to rise in his sinuses. The feeling came on him fast and before he could throw his head back and sneeze into the air, it overcame him. The sound was sudden, explosive and punctuated by a cloud of loose dirt that quickly filled the air around him. The airborne dirt set off a chain reaction of sneezes and Malleus was forced to rise and step away to finally put an end to it. He walked a short distance away, blowing hard through his nose to clear it of irritants, before circling back to the hole he'd been digging. All the dirt, all the sneezing was for a humble dandelion root. Before the weather turned he intended to dry and store as many useful plants as he could get his paws on and that included the common, regularly overlooked plants that could be found close to home. It would be easy to take them for granted now, but when it cooled down he might find himself in need of them with no fresh weeds to pull. Dropping to his elbows again, Malleus gently took hold of the dandelion's partially exposed roots and began to work them from side to side in the hopes of freeing the rest of them. |
