Since she'd been reunited with her brother Sindre had decided to put her wanderings on hold. She had the rest of her life to explore; this time spent catching up with her brother was precious. Now all she needed to do was reunite with the others. How long had it been since she'd seen them last? They'd all been children then, hadn't they? Time had simply flown. There was no other explanation for it.

Sindre was making her way across the estuary. It was slow goings. In most places the ground was marshy and required her to choose her steps with care. She was on the hunt for bird eggs. Somewhere around here a goose or something was trying to get cozy over a nest full of big, fat eggs, and Sindre intended to make his or her sitting a little comfier by removing them.

She paused to eye a large fallen log that blocked her path. To go over or under, that was the question...

Slow, measured steps were taken as the man moved like a shadow through the terrain, body held low so he'd be more difficult to spot. Being found again felt like the worst thing ever right now. It wasn't even his usual flighty nature that lead to this particularly shy feeling today, no, it was worse. Ears fell flat as he recalled the scene; a lovely woman about his age, her sad, lonely face twisting from wistful to horrified as he approached. He just wanted some company, and even though she'd been polite in the end it just hurt to have that be everyone's impulse. If only they'd stop, or he'd stop being so sensitive...

Moving swiftly in an effort to distance himself from the memory, Lerato moved over the marshy ground as quickly as his body would allow, legs ripping his paws from the ground that would occasionally try to pull at them. If he had kept going he might have sailed past Sindre and not even noticed her, but alas, his escape from possible interactions was foiled when he heard a soft crack and felt something squish between the toes of one of his paws. Sliding to a stop he lifted his right front paw, yellow yolk dripping from it as he grimaced, "Ughh.." He still failed to notice he might be near someone else, too busy trying to shake the sticky remains of egg from his limb.

Under, she decided. Ducking down, Sindre began to shimmy under the log and it was then that she spotted a good sign: two small downy feathers. Upon seeing them her eyes lit up and her mouth began to water in anticipation of the coming meal. It wasn't a done deal yet, but unless a goose had met its demise close by it had to mean she was in nesting territory, right? Or pretty close anyway.

Stomp, stomp stomp, crack.

"Ughhh..."

Well, that didn't sound very promising.

Sindre crept forward just far enough for her to peep out from under the log and over the tall grass on the other side. Never mind the large male, she couldn't care any less about him at the moment, her eyes were immediately drawn to the nest. With the grass as tall as it was she couldn't see much of it, so her gaze drifted upward and locked on the male's raised foot. She watched as golden yolk, the very thing she'd been drooling about moments early, dripped off his toes.

What could she do besides be amused? Sindre tsked and then said sarcastically, "I prefer eating eggs to wearing them but hey, you do you, buddy."

He'd made progress in shaking the egg from his paw, and was  eyeing the nest and it's remaining intact eggs resentfully when a voice shattered his impression that he was alone. Ears went flat as he stiffened, looking for the source of the sardonic remark. When his silver orbs caught sight of her he almost forgave her manner of entrance simply based on how lovely the woman looked. Aiming to fling part of the remaining yellow yolk in her direction, he quipped, "Don't worry, I'm not above sharing." His words came out a bit slow, betraying the effort it took to form all the syllables, and even then parts came out a mumble, or were almost missed entirely.

Giving the woman his best attempt at a friendly smile - not a simple task when you have little to work with - raising his brows a bit and asking, "Why, were you interested in these? Cause you're welcome to what's left of them, I think I've had enough of eggs for right now." Maybe some company that didn't run screaming would make up for a terrible start to his day.

The man went ridged and for a moment Sindre thought she'd made a mistake, but then he flicked some yolk at her and shot back an equally smart remark. His voice was a bit hard to understand for reasons that weren't immediately apparent, but she didn't dwell on it. What did that matter if he was willing to laugh with her and poke fun at his predicament? "How kind of you," she said sarcastically.

After wiping the yolk off her face, Sindre straightened so she could look the man in the eye. His mutilated face surprised her - she'd never seen anyone so heavily scarred before - but she hid it well and managed to meet his gaze without looking at the messed up side of his face directly. He probably got stared at a lot and even though she was curious, she didn't want to be one of "those people."

As for the rest of the eggs... "Are you sure? You did reach them first. We could split them 50/50." Her expression playful, she went on to say, "The broken ones counting towards your 50, of course." He might have said he didn't want them, but he could just be saying that to be nice.
