Hakuna Matata
It had been sometime since he'd been here, and since he decided to take up residence closer than he had been in Auster, he figured he'd stop by and say hello. Sparrow was an interesting little creature, though he wondered how the pack was faring. Last he had come around, the scents indicated the pack was small...had it grown since then? Had the Abraxas been this way? While he didn't know Sparrow on a personal level, he worried some for the pack. Before the alphess took charge, Bass had led it for years. He was a good friend of his mothers, and he felt inclined to check on them and make sure they were doing okay. Who knew, maybe they could share information. He hoped they were doing alright, and with Iskra out and about, he wondered if she had come by here yet. Had they heard about the challenge for Talis? He wouldn't be surprised if everyone in the lands knew...the Abraxas weren't the silent type, after all. Stopping near the borders with Kimahri and Shiva nearby, he tilted his head back and made a call for Sparrow. Or whoever was nearby that might be able to enlighten him. |

A call sounded at the borders. Sparrow knew that voice. It was the alpha of Talis. Sparrow had already heard of it falling. As she approached the man, she tried to figure out her stance. She saw Dragon, but did he see her? Judging by his eyes, he couldn't, but surely he would be able to scent and hear her soon.
"Dragon," Sparrow said calmly, "How are things treating you?"
He waited patiently at the borders for someone to arrive, and soon he heard the sound of light footsteps just before hearing Sparrow's voice. Lifting his head a little, he turned his head towards her direction, cloudy green gaze staring right through her. "Things are going as well as can be given the circumstances." He offered a small grin, holding back the sigh that wanted to slip out, but he kept it in. He and Iskra had spoken before she left on her journey, and he wondered if she had been this way with the news of his pack and the Abraxas.
"How are things treating you? Alright I hope?" While he didn't know her well enough, he wanted to ensure that her and her pack were doing well. Her father had been an ally to his mother's pack, and Bass had been a really good friend to her. And with that family roaming around and wanting to take over the world, he wanted to check in on them...had they come to Abaven? He'd find out soon enough he supposed, for now, a little small talk wouldn't hurt.
"Dragon"||"Kimahri"||"Shiva"

"That's good to hear," she said, opting for a verbal response.
He asked if Abaven was doing alright and Sparrow nodded while thinking.
"Things are... good," she said a bit hesitantly.
She could smell that he was no longer alpha. Her expression changed.
"I've heard about the Abraxas," she said, her voice almost hushed. "I heard what they did to Dragoste, too. We have some of the old members now residing here."
Her statement was also an offer in disguise. She didn't want to insult the ex-alpha, but she wanted to offer him a place to rest and recover if he so needed. Perhaps not a member, but as a refugee.
Alas, Dragon was strong. He probably did not need her pity or her shelter, so she kept her offer as a statement.
"Can you tell me about it? I need to protect Abaven when- if the time comes."
"Things are...good." her response seemed hesitant, and he figured perhaps maybe she wasn't comfortable sharing that. Or maybe it was something else entirely. Things had gotten quite tense in the lands since the Abraxas had gotten here he thought. And since Abaven had been an ally before, they deserved to know what might be coming so they would be prepared. What she said next though, surprised him. The Abraxas had done something to Dragoste!? He hadn't heard about that, and he probably wouldn't have since his pack had been isolated in Auster...until the first Abraxas pack had suddenly appeared. Things suddenly got concerning, and it showed all over his face.
"I hadn't heard about Dragoste...last I was there, Roza and Ganta were doing well." What happened to them now that they weren't leading it? She mentioned some of their old members were here, and he wondered if the former alpha pair were among them.
He was lost in thought for a moment until she asked him a question, head rose and he let loose a small sigh. She had indeed heard about the challenge, and he had no doubt in his mind now that Iskra had been this way. "I take it that Iskra has been this way," He chuckled softly, then sighed. "Ashiel Abraxas came challenging for my pack. And obviously came out victorious. Before he challenged, I had a few run ins with his mother, Pyralis Abraxas...She seemed nice, as did Ashiel when they came to visit my lands. Of course, they tricked me to gain my trust. Or maybe I was the stupid one for thinking they'd be some sort of ally." He shrugged. He learned his lesson, that was for sure.
"Anyway, Ashiel had...alot of support. All pack wolves. All Abraxas. I could smell them, they outnumbered my own members that had shown up, so there's no doubt in my mind that the Abraxas are a large force. I wouldn't trust them until we've at least learned what their motives are, and I'd watch out for the time being. He flicked his torn ear, the former alpha remembering what she had mentioned about Dragoste. "What...what did they do to Dragoste?" |

As Dragon explained, Sparrow nodded slowly, humming to herself He eventually asked about Dragoste.
"Much the same from what I heard. I heard that they challenged the alpha while some family members tore through the pack. I took in some refugees here. Since then, they have become members of Abaven."
"Do you know why they targeted your pack or why they would want to take over multiple packs?" It didn't make sense unless there were so many of them that they couldn't possibly live in the same pack together.
For Dragon to say there were many fit with what Caelum and Zephyr had said. Sparrow felt a knot in her stomach. "Do you think they will come here?" Sparrow asked quietly. "If so... based off of what happened to Talis and Dragoste... what should I, as an alpha, do?"
She explained a bit about what the Abraxas had done to Dragoste, and his curiosity only grew. Where did the Abraxas come from? What did they want exactly? And why were they targeting the other packs? Maybe it was a power thing...maybe they wanted the other packs to see just how strong they were. He had heard some of them talk about their fallen god and heard a little about their beliefs, but he had never really asked. Maybe he should have done a little investigating of his own, but for now...it was up to Iskra. He just hoped she would come back safely from her journey, and after fulfilling whatever little deal she had going with the Malleus she mentioned. "I would like to speak to them at some point, if you don't mind? Ganta and Roza were good friends of mine, I need to know that they're okay, and if there are former members of their pack here then they might know where they are." Of course, he had no idea that Ganta had been killed. He had started to become good friends with the long haired male, he had such a good disposition and an upbeat attitude.
When she asked why they might have targeted his pack, Kimahri seemed to a slight bit of irritation at the question. "Probably because he's blind and they figured he was an easy target!" He growled, though he quieted when Shiva came up and roughly shoved his shoulder. "You don't have to be so rude Kimahri, she was just asking a question!" Sighing, she turned to Sparrow with a calmer, nicer attitude. "Don't mind him. He is right though. It may have also been due to the fact that our pack was the only one closest to them...they set up in Auster, you see. Not far from where Talis had settled for the last couple of years. The first pack that sprung up before Dragon got challenged, smelled heavily of many members...in fact, I'd say almost all of them were present at the challenge. And just that one family alone seemed to rival Talis in numbers, and there were almost a couple dozen of us..."
Dragon nodded grimly, confirming all that Kimahri and Shiva had said. "My reasoning for them attacking other packs might be just a show of force...probably trying to spread fear, unnerve those around them. I...can't say for certain, but if they're gathering in numbers every time they challenge, then it sounds like a scare tactic. I had to admit, I got nervous and put on edge when I smelled so many of them..." He grew quiet as Sparrow seemed...nervous? At least, it was the vibe he got when her voice quieted down, asking him for advice. [b]"There is a possibility they will target Abaven. Based on scent alone, it seems your pack doesn't have the numbers it used to have. That's just my observation from previous visits...but in all honesty, I don't think any pack is safe from them." He frowned, lowering his head a little as the thought of Abaven falling didn't sit well with him. He had known about Abaven forever, an old standing pack that had been around for years. His mother had been close friends with Bass, and they had been allies before too. He hoped that at one point, he could maybe continue that and form a friendship or somethinf of the sort with Sparrow and the other members here. But if the Abraxas came for it, then..."I suggest you all keep your wits about you, and train to fight. Make sure all your members are aware, and honing their fighting skills. If the Abraxas do decide to come for Abaven, you should all be prepared. You don't know if they'll come rushing all at once, or if it'll be a one on one challenge. Either way, Abaven should stay on their toes and be prepared."
As unsettling and as grim as that may have sounded, there was truth to it. He himself had started to slack off in his training. He hadn't trained hard enough to fight well enough with his blindness, but now that he knew of this threat, he would train as much as he possibly could. "I can help, if you'd like. While I plan on resurrecting Talis...it's going to take some time to rebuild. I can help train your members, and I can even regroup some of my former pack members to help as well." He laid the offer out on the table for her. Truth be told, he figured maybe sticking around Abaven to help out a bit could possibly be beneficial to both of them. But more importantly, he truly did want to help prepare them for whatever might come.

Agh- the companions spoke. Sparrow rolled her eyes at the rude one, "Ah yes, I'm sure Ganta happened to be blind too," she quipped. "Obviously that's not the only reason."
Dragon said that he didn't think that any pack was safe. Sparrow agreed. They had felled two packs already. What was next? Who was next?
He suggested they ready themselves. "We're working on it," Sparrow assured him. With Zephyr helping head fight training, they were well on their way.
Then, Dragon offered to help while he gathered himself to prepare to remake Talis. Sparrow nodded, "I would love that. We can do with all the help we can get. I know not when the Abraxas will strike, but I feel that they inevitably will. I would very much like your help until then."
No...his heart sank when she said Ganta had been killed. He almost couldn't believe it, and the information she gave him felt like a blow. He didn't know Ganta incredibly well, but the male had been a part of his pack at one point, and Dragon had gone out of his way to visit him. He quieted after that, the feeling of sadness creeping up on him. It wasn't until she responded to Kimahri that he somewhat got his attention back. And when Kimahri made to make another remark, Dragon uttered a low warning growl to tell him to shut up. He didn't feel like listening to his companions sharp tongue right now.
"I don't know exactly what their reasons are for doing all of this, but it's good you're already trying to prepare." When she accepted his offer to help, he raised his head and nodded. As she said, he too didn't know when or if the Abraxas family would strike this pack. But if they did, he hoped it was far enough in the future to where they could prepare. "Alright, well then you have our help. I'll inform the others." There were quite a few members of his pack that had stuck around, and he would need to go talk to them after this. He was sure they'd have no problem helping out. Hopefully. "After I talk to them, then either I or someone will come by to see when you'd like to start. If you need us sooner, just call and we'll come." He was sincere in his words, making sure she knew he meant it.
