Dine and Dash

With a purposeful, ground-eating stride, Malleus made his way towards Boreas. He'd been at this pace for miles and he could get a few more miles in without stopping. His constant traveling abroad combined with his frequent border patrols at home had equipped him to handle long distances with ease. He wasn't a sprinter, couldn't beat a runner in a race if his opponent was three-legged and blind, but he excelled in endurance. Malleus would be well into Fjord on the other side of the land bridge before he had to rest. While he might have been on a mission, Malleus couldn't help but admire his surroundings. The beach shone brilliantly in the morning light; nearly matching the glare off the water in some places. In others the glitter was more subtle, offering a simple, soft shimmer. It was fun to think of all the bizarre (yet tasty) critters that called this place home and were lurking out of sight. If he had the time Malleus would have been poking through the surf in search of crabs or whatever else he could find. He'd heard there were clams somewhere along the coast too, but he didn't know how to go about finding them or where they were located. Perhaps he'd look for them on his way back. He'd never eaten one, but he'd heard they were good. Speaking of crabs, almost as if on cue one scuttled out from under a piece of driftwood. It was a little bit out of his way, but he couldn't resist. It was just too good a chance to pass up. Malleus pounced after it; easily kicking it from behind and flipping it over. The truly tricky part was pinning it to the ground and pulling its claws off without getting pinched. His brow furrowed in concentration as he tried to do just that. |
