Smelling Like a Salty Dog
Navigation: The Wall |Round|1|2|3 Well… Now he was back. Back in Boreas, far from the warm southern continent from which he had departed, but most of all far from the bounty that had been placed on his head on far more distant shores. Eura chattered on his back, making a show of holding herself tightly and shivering as the cold wind blew off the ancient structure. “I know, I know.” He said with just a touch of exasperation. The weather was only mild at best, but it was vastly different from the white sand beaches and the crystal blue seas he and his companion had left behind to escape the iron fist of the law.
His ears twitched as they walked the length of the structure, moving at an easy pace despite the shrill objections of the multihued monkey. First, he supposed he would need something to eat; he was starving, and weary from battling he sea, but there was little chance of him finding any big game in the wide, open, expanse of the north. He sighed and began to trot searching for a break in the strange formation so he could at least move further south.

The pint-sized yearling had spotted a pile of stones beside a gap in the wall and simply hadn't been about to resist the urge to climb them. Together the rocks created a jagged set of stairs that seemed to beckon her upwards. She'd been powerless to resist their pull, honest. Once at the top of the pile, the top of the wall hadn't seemed so far away and so without thinking, Ferrous had tossed herself at it.
After a moment's rest Ferrous popped up and took off running. The day was half over and she wasn't about the waste the rest of it by laying there like a tired lump.
Something up ahead caught her eye. As she ran and the blob got closer Ferrous recognized it as a wolf with some kind of weird lump on its back. Her curiosity piqued, she picked up the pace and in no time at all the two distinct shapes took form. When she realized what the lump was she burst out laughing.
The pair had to have heard her laugh, so after a moment and a few more giggles she said, "Sorry for laughing; from a distance I thought you were some kind of weird two-headed monster."

The sudden laughter caught his attention, and his head rose to see a girl almost a foot smaller than himself standing on top of the wall. “Well now,” he said in a soft purr, “How’d a pretty thing like you get all the way up there?” He asked, his haunches sinking to the earth to make himself more comfortable.

Ah, the pack. Niente. It was weird to think that she belonged to a pack now. Ferrous had pictured herself ending up in many different places, but she'd never seriously considered the possibility that she'd end up in a pack. She didn't know whether or not she'd made a good choice yet, but she had a good feeling about it. That alpha guy seemed genuine.
Ferrous snorted at the male's words, her lips lifting in a cynical smirk. She struck a saucy pose and then responded with a lighthearted retort, "I climbed up all by my pretty little self." It wasn't a lie per se. She had climbed up...just not the wall itself. Let him think she'd actually climbed it - it was a more impressive feat than simply climbing a pile of rubble.
