Deep Freeze

The winter was feeling rather bitter this time around. He was still working on his plans for the pack and had yet to find anyone up for joining him. Serene had gone on another adventure, which he was happy she was getting out and exploring, but it left him alone and without the company of any friends. It was difficult to be without company when he grew up with such a large family, but he was keeping himself busy with his work. When he wasn't sleeping he was deep within one of the storage dens continuing what work he could. Dirt couldn't be moved because the ground was frozen, but he had other things that needed to be done. The things he had already collected were neatly organized and he had to be sure there was nothing getting in and ruining them.
He hadn't had much trouble keeping warm, not with his thick winter coat. And it helped his empty den was well lined with pelts so that he remained comfortable when he slept. Today though he had felt rather restless, especially with the last snow storm having him secluded to his den for a full day. So he headed away from his home today, curious to see what damage the storm had made and look to see if it blew anything interesting in. Most of his morning was spent moving through the thick layer of snow, checking the borders of the willows. His search had come up rather uneventful he decided to go further.
The further he went the warmer it grew, the layer of snow on the ground also thinning. Then he remembered were he was heading, the springs. Grinning he picked up his pace wondering if a short dip in one of the pools would be good for his muscles.

The winter seemed to be even more long and difficult than normal. When it had been just him and Carletta he hadn't worried about how he could find food for them. Feeding two wolves was easy, especially when they could both hunt fairly well. Ever since Carletta became pregnant and hadn't been able to hunt with him he had begun to work overtime to make sure he could take care of her. Then Ambrosio joined them. And now their pups were here. The number of mouths to feed kept going up but he was still only one wolf. Even still, he felt incredibly blessed to have this second chance at a family so late in his life. His children, Ambrosio included, pulled his youthful self back to the surface. He put every ounce of his energy into caring for them and making sure they enjoyed their childhood and he wouldn't have it any other way. He had spent most of the morning hunting and now that he was done his back and joints were telling him just how hard he had pushed himself. His upper back between his shoulders had been a pretty consistent source of pain for him for many years now, but some days were worse than others. He made his way toward the hot springs in hopes that the warm water might relieve some of the ache from his bones. It had helped him so many times in the past and it made him happy that they still lived so close to the springs. Leo eased himself into the water slowly since there was such a drastic difference in temperature from the outside air to the water. With a sigh he submerged himself in one of the deeper pools and let his eyes close while he enjoyed the feeling of the heat seeping in. Getting out of the water to go back home was going to be much less fun, but it seemed worth it in that moment for the temporary relief. |

Before he got there he saw a figure slip into one of the pools, someone he had never seen before. This would be even better as long as the other wolf didn't mind the company. He moved forward at a steady pace and soon he slowed down as he made it to the water's edge, the same pool that the orange male was in. He had his eyes closed which made the younger male hesitate. Should he disturb him or should he let him be. He frowned for a moment before quietly clearing his throat. "Sorry to disturb you, but do you mind if I join you," he spoke quieter, but his tones still deep. He hoped the other male wouldn't mind the company. This winter had been vary lonely and he was more then happy to get some company from another even if it may be short lived. He knew there was always a possibility of running into someone who wanted nothing to do with him, but the male chose to remain optimistic. He had certainly been struggling since he had left his family, but he had high hopes for what he would accomplish in his lifetime. "Speech" 'Think' |
