It was a mild day as far as the weather and the small storm last night hadn’t brought much snow. This made conditions for a short travel from packlands ok and he had let one of the higher ranks know before he had left. He was on a scouting mission, checking to see how the herds were doing in the nearby territories and see if any of them had moved away for the winter. It was key information the pack would need to know because they needed food. With the lack of hunters Lais had been trying his best to fill his duties as legionary, but also bring food in for the pack. Most of the larger food sources had simply come from scavenging, but smaller prey was easy to get on your own. Pack numbers were low and he had been worried since Regulus had left for his own mission. Lais was worried that his brother wouldn’t return, the only sibling Lais had left in Celestial. Little Auri was now taking over and though Lais was more then proud of his niece, he was worried his brother may fall off the deep end. He had kept his concerns to himself and tried to bury them under other things.

He paced himself through the snow, not wanting to tire himself too quickly. Moving through it at an easy pace while his other senses remained alert. He didn’t know what state the local prey would be in, this winter had been harsh so far and he didn’t see it getting much better.

She had traveled all over, and her travels would bring her westward in the hopes it would be warmer during the winter. Last nights storm had her stuck beneath an old log for shelter, but luckily it had faded away enough to where she could leave her shelter and continue on her way. Where she was going, she had no idea. She never really had a destination in mind. She had seen a lot during her travels but probably not enough. Come to think of it, she couldn't really remember what she had seen...perhaps she had simply rushed too much in getting through the lands that she wasn't really paying attention.

Small paws crunched lightly over the snow that covered the valley, and for miles that's all she could see. So the western lands weren't safe from it either? Oh well. She continued her path, slowly at first to get used to the snow valley. When she felt she was a good distance in, she picked up the pace until she was practically galloping across the snow. She laughed as the wind brushed her fur, her tail wagging and tongue hanging out as she enjoyed herself. She loved being able to go where she wanted, when she wanted. But it did often get pretty lonely...

As she gazed up at the sky, she thought about her family and how they were doing. Did they find packs? Were they traveling too? She didn't have too much time to think about it. Before she knew it, her body dropped so fast that she didn't even have a fast enough reaction time to even yelp. It seemed she had found a rather deep bit of snow and it had swallowed her up. It surrounded all of her except for her head. Her head sat awkwardly above the rest of the snow, and she frowned. She tried to pull her legs up, but with no success. Was she destined to stay stuck here until the snow melted if she couldn't get out?

He seemed to travel for quite a while and life seemed rather dead around here. He stopped for a moment letting his ears listen and his eyes wonder. Not even any birds were chirping. It made him concerned, had the prey all up and moved out of the west? Or were they simply slow to start today. Huffing lightly he continued on, his nose twitching as he took in scent. Of in the distance he spotted a rabbit casually hopping on top of the snow. It was a relief to at least see some movement in the snowy territory.

He abruptly stopped when his ears caught a noise far from him. Turning his head in the direction he listened again, but didn't hear the noise. Little did he know the noise he had heard was the distant laughter of another. He was curious enough to shift his direction and head towards the unknown sound he had heard. He moved at a quiet pace through the snow letting his senses remain alert just in case he was walking towards danger. It took him a little bit of time before he came across the tracks of another wolf carrying the fresh scent. This let Lais know that the other wolf had just come through here. Wagging his tail he shifted his direction again and fallowed the trail.

He had almost not seen her head sticking from the ground, in fact if he hadn't looked down the trail of paw prints he probably would have stumbled right over her, but the male had looked down the trail of prints and a mere couple yards from him was this black head sticking out of the ground. She must have fallen into a drift, but could she get out alone?

"Hello!" he called out. "Do you need some help?"

She huffed as she tried to figure out how the heck she was going to get out of her predicament. Eyes stared up at the sky above her, watching the clouds roll by. She couldn't free her legs enough to climb out. Would she be stuck here until Spring came and melted the snow away!? She hoped now. She would be here for a long time if that were the case. Frowning, she thought about calling out for help, but who would be out here at this time? With her luck, probably nobody. But she could at least try, right?

Twisting her head a little more skyward, she opened her mouth in preparation to make a call. But just as she was about to, a figure appeared! "Hello! Do you need some help?" Oh sweet mother of mercy! She was saved! It seemed she wouldn't have to wait until Spring after all! She nodded eagerly, eyes brightening as she looked at her would be savior! If she could move, her tail would be wagging. But in her current position, she couldn't move at all! "Oh thank the heavens! Yes, I do need some help! I'd very much appreciate it, stranger!" She smiled up at him, feeling sheepish and embarrassed due to her predicament. How funny she must look from her position, but she was glad he had found her. In fact, she was sure that if it were any of her family members, they'd laugh their tails off if they found her like this! "Erm, could you maybe dig me out? I'm pretty stuck and I can't move, ehe.." A lopsided grin plastered itself on her face. She was soooo thankful someone had come along to rescue her!

She seemed vary and relieved and happy that he had appeared, which he was sure if he was in her shoes he would be feeling the same. She was in quite the tight spot and he was more then happy to help her out. He closed the little distance that was left and began to test the ground around her, looking for a potential soft spot to begin digging. There had to be another pocket of snow around her that he could dig into instead of trying to dig frozen ground.

"Of course, let me just find a soft spot that should be all snow and I will get to digging," he said glancing to her before going back to finding a spot.

He soon found a spot by her left side and carefully began to dig. He didn't want to hit or scratch her while digging, but he needed to get close enough to her body so she could break loose. His muscles rippled under his winter pelt as he powerful front legs dug away the snow. Working at an even, yet quick pace so that he could get her out as quick as possible. He kept going and going until he had gotten down to her back paws before he stepped back and gave her room to crawl out.

"Do you need me to dig more or can you get out?" he asked worried it wasn't enough for her to get out.

She watched him test the ground around her, she wasn't really wary or anything. After all, why should she be when he offered his help? He seemed nice, and she didn't really feel like she needed to be wary. Perhaps she should have been, but not this time. She wanted to wag her tail, but at the moment every part of her was stuck except for her head. She nodded as he proceeded to look for a softer spot to make it easier to dig her out, and the whole time she watched him carefully and with interest. She wasn't afraid of him, no. She was sort of fascinated with him. His eyes seemed to be a similar color to hers, quite attractive if she did think so herself. Though that was more than likely due to the fact her eyes were similar, and she always loved the color of her own eyes. She giggled a little to herself, feeling sheepish and a little embarrassed, so she turned away and focused on where her forepaws were instead.

When he started to dig, she turned her head to watch him again. She noted his muscles rippling beneath his dual toned pelt, admiring the potential strength he had. He was also taller and bigger than her, and she felt bad he had to waste his time digging her out of the snow. Her attention came back to the present when he asked if she was able to get out. With haste, she wiggled her back end free and soon began to back peddle enough to where she could free her forelegs. Once she accomplished that, she pulled herself up to stand opposite him, on the other side of her would-be snow trap. Shaking herself free of snow and slush, she wagged her tail and dipped her head to him. "Ah! I can't thank you enough for saving me!" She smiled at him, eyes bright and posture friendly. "Does my hero have a name?" She tilted her head in curiosity, waiting for his answer.

He was concerned that she wouldn't be able to get out still, but on the other hand if he tried to dig any closer to her body he was sure to hurt her in some way. He watched her move and wiggle, stepping back further as she was able to exit her snowy cocoon. Soon a slight smile appeared on his inky lips, happy that she was able to get free and that he was able to help another out. Her words made his smile bigger, her brightness and energy a bit contagious. When the word 'Hero' exited her mouth he immediately felt flattered. He had never been called a hero before and it honestly felt good to be called that. It made him chuckle a little bit.

"Laisren Adravendi at your service," he said with a slight dip of his head to her. "I'm glad I was nearby and crossed your trail."

He wanted to ask her name, but how would he even word it. She was pretty, but would she get offended if he called her that? His social skills were not the best, especially with pretty females. His tail wagged lightly behind him and his posture remaining friendly. He then noticed the similarity in her eyes, something similar to the own color of his eyes.

"Laisren Adravendi, at your service." Ah! A handsome name for a handsome hero! Wasn't she just lucky today? Her smile grew wider when he said he was glad he had crossed her trail, and she nodded along. "Yes, as am I! I'm pretty sure if you hadn't come along when you did, I might have been stuck there all season!" Chuckling, her tail wagged even as she sat down. "My name is Novel Destruction the Third. It's very nice to meet you Sir Laisren, and again I can't thank you enough for helping me!" She smiled at him, her eyes reflecting his own similarly colored gaze. She was a few inches shorter than he was, so she tilted her head up just a little to peer at him. She noticed then, that he smelled different then she did. But she couldn't quite place what that smell was. She knew about packs, and she knew what they were, but she had never smelled a pack smell before. In her head right now, he just smelled much different than she did. Like several other scents mixed into one or something. "Say, you're not a loner are you?"

He grinned at her words and at her chuckle nodding in agreement. She vary well could have been there all season because it didn't look as though this territory was regularly traveled. It made it a great choice for a hunt, but after seeing how she ended up he could see why more loners hadn't traveled through here. She then introduced herself and thanked him once more, his tail wagging in quiet response. He was a man that does his best to do the right things in his life and he had no problems helping something out.

She was slightly smaller them him so he had to look slightly downward at her, her gaze similar to the color of his own. It was odd to be looking into eyes that were similar color to his own and if she wasn't so differently marked then he would swear he was looking at his own reflection. She then asked about being a loner, her question suggesting that she knew he wasn't. Did she know much about packs in general? He wasn't sure if she was raised a loner or raised in a pack.

He shook his head left and right giving her a quiet reply first.

"No I'm part of a pack here in the West called Celestial," he replied.
