She had felt different for a while, though why that was she wasn't sure. She hadn't been as cheerful or as bouncy lately, and the only reason she could think of was the fact that her twin brother and her mother had disappeared. She was moping around in the den she shared with her father, feeling down since the last meeting. She had been demoted, something she understood but she wasn't quite sure why she felt singled out. Granted she wasn't the only one that had been demoted, but there were plenty of times that others should have been, but weren't. At least from her understanding anyway. Did Torin hate her? She hardly spent time with him, and it was mostly due to the fact he always seemed so standoffish and she didn't want to bother him.
She could never figure out what she wanted to do in the pack, never really felt like she had a real purpose here or what, if anything, she could do to contribute. She hadn't figured out her calling, and just all around wasn't sure what to do. She supposed she could go out and find something to do, even if it felt insignificant to her. With that thought in mind, Kairi got up and headed out towards the borders. She thought about going and exploring today but thought better of it. What if her packmates saw her and thought she was going to goof off again? Gah! She felt like such a failure and a disappointment! Sighing, she walked along the borders with head and tail low, ultimately feeling defeated. |

Star was chasing a rabbit rather vigorously through the territory, finally having enough energy to hunt and enjoy herself at home again. She felt so much better now that she was home and getting back to her usual routine. Nothing felt better than knowing she had lived through one of the worst times of her life and made it home to see Frost and the pack again. It was this knowledge and feeling safe again, that helped her recover so quickly. Hailey had helped her as well, giving her soothing herbs that were not poppy-based or had anything to do with the awful plant. The results of which were about to be brought to fruition as Star was within striking range of the rabbit, and she delivered the killing strike without hesitation.
Waving her tail in personal triumph, Star lifted her head with the rabbit hanging limply from her jaws and started to head for home when she noticed a familiar figure headed toward the border. Lowering her meal to the ground, Star watched the young woman for a little while as she seemed to think better about going out, then turned with an utterly depressed posture and walked along the border. "Kairi! Hey!" She called out with a warm voice, then hoping the other wolf stopped, Star picked up the rabbit and jogged her way. When she caught up to Kairi, she spoke through the rabbit, "Want to share lunch?" Her tail waved with her usual friendly manner, and she matched Kairi's pace as they walked.
