Amaris Abraxas

The world was growing with each passing day, as was the young Abraxas girl. Though her other siblings seemed to be growing faster, larger, than she, Amaris wasn't giving up hope that she too would grow into an elegant giant like all the other women in her family. The tiny fawn girl was out around the den site, wandering around looking for something to do. That's when a flash of bright colors caught her chilly blue eye. Brown ears turned towards the sight, but found no sound to accompany the sudden movement. Curious as ever, the little girl trotted off in search of whatever it was that had caught her eye.

She had just rounded a rather large tree, draped in an endless supply of vines, when she saw it. Dazzling rich colors moved ever so softly through the air; wings so blue that it nearly sparkled when caught in the sunlight. The tiny creature floated through the air as if it didn't have a care in the world, as if no one was watching. But Amaris was, and she wanted to catch it. "Such a pretty butterfly.." said to no one in particular, the little huntress would stumble forward, tripping over the vines as she followed the movements of the butterfly.

Suddenly, the tiny creature stopped on a vine for a quick break, and that's when Amaris found her chance. The tiny huntress sprung forward, letting out a mighty feisty growl as she aimed for the butterfly. However, the tiny insect was too quick, and Amaris too inexperienced. So instead of capturing the alluring butterfly, the girl flew past and straight into the gaping hole of the tree truck hidden so cleverly behind a wall of vines. She landed with a lout thump, followed by a long groan that echoed through the hallow tree truck. "Stupid bug." She would grumble before attempting to push herself out of the hole, but she was stuck. And she was stuck good.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The world was full of new and exciting moments, each and everyone of them a chance to learn and test her growing skills. From chasing shadows to hunting bugs, and rescuing old and ancient trees from the oppression grasp of vines. Whatever she saw, adventure flowed from her imagination, and she knew that she and her siblings could take on the world.

She was stalking through the trees near their den when she heard a voice, she thought it sounded like her favourite sister, Mar, but it was whisper quiet and she could make out no words, so she could have been mistaken. Butt wiggling in the ground, she lowered herself and began the art of stalking. Making her way less quietly then she would have liked, she tried to split her attention through missing nosy obstacles beneath her feet, like leaves that crumbled beneath her paws, and seeing where she was going. She was only mildly successful, and it lengthened the time it took to approach her unsuspecting sister.

When she found the tree, she thought she caught another whisper-soft sound, and glanced at in in surprise. Was it coming from the tree? She had rescued a tree once, with the help of her brother. Maybe this tree knew, and had called out to her… “Hello, Mr Tree?”
She could not see the hole Mar had fallen through at this angle, but she could hear movement from the tree, and knew it to be alive. This tree was covered in vines too, and she wondered if it needed her to remove them. “Mr Tree, did you need my help?”

Amaris Abraxas

Panic was starting to settle into her soul, making room for fear to crawl over her skin. What if she was stuck in here forever? What if no one knew where to find her? Was she going to die in this stupid dark hole? Amaris pushed and pushed, using all the mighty strength of the tiny goddess within her, but to no avail. How could that be? She was an Abraxas! No mere tree could take her down! That's when she realized.... the butterfly had lured her to it's master... the wooden titan disguised as a tree! It was the only thing that made sense. But when she realized how truly in danger she was, Amaris grew petrified.

"Foul beast! Unhand me!" She would holler, clawing at the bark inside the tree in retaliation. If this was to be her fate, she would not go out without a fight. That's when she heard it... the faintest sound of a voice coming from beyond her prison walls. Was that... Fel? "Felicity? Fel? Is that you? Help! I've been eaten!" It was her last hope, and she so desperately wanted to believe her dearest sister Fel was close by to hear her cries.

The tree spoke! Felicity looked up at the long, winding bark in amazement. No… wait a second, that was her sisters voice, just like she had thought she had been following in the first place. She tilted her head, trying to figure out how a tree spoke with her sisters voice, and if she should be worried, when her sister called her name. She had been eaten??

Felicity fell back on her hind feet, forpaws in the air as she roared. Ok, so her young vocals mashed the sound, and dropped out of tone completely half way through, but that didn’t take away from the point. “How dare you, tree, that is my sister and an Abraxa’s never walked away from family. She fell on the tree with violence, ripping and tearing until her little gums were bleeding, and there was barely an indent in the tree to show for it. She paused, taking a step back, panting heavily from her excursions. She needed to fight smarter, not stronger. That’s what her da would say, right?

“Mar? How did the tree eat you?” maybe she needed to start from the beginning, and maybe the mouth would be a weak point she could attack. No matter what, she was getting her sister out of there! This tree would learn never to mess with an Abraxa’s

Amaris Abraxas

Within the confines of the hallow tree, Amaris was all but deaf to the commotion going on outside the wood. She did however, make out the slightest whisper of her sister's hollering, which assured the fawn girl that help was on the way. Her panicked state was finally settling down, but she continued to take deep, thoughtful breaths until she could finally think over the sound of her beating heart. "Okay Mar, think. There was a way in, so there has to be a way out." Yes, that made sense. Blue orbs looked around the darkness before her, finding little to no light within the heart of the formidable tree foe. Mar? How did the tree eat you? She could just barely hear her sister's question, and she had to pause to think about her answer. It would be kinda embarrassing to admit the truth, but if the truth was what got her out of there.. then maybe it was worth it.

"A butterfly tricked me into jumping into it's mouth.." she squirmed, feeling foolish to let such an insignificant insect imprison her like this. But as she squirmed, she was reminded that her hind legs were indeed free, only her thorax being consumed by the monstrous tree. "Fel! Fel! Find my legs! I think they're still hanging out of the tree's mouth!" She would call out as loud as she could, hoping her dear sister could hear her instructions. To help with the search, Amaris began to thrash her legs about, feeling the coolness of dirt between her toes and the familiar sound of claws on bark as she tried to wiggle free. "Can you see me?" She would call out, mostly because she was afraid to be left alone, but she knew Felicity would never do that. They were family after all, Abraxas. That meant nobody got left behind.

She could hear soft murmuring in the tree, and tilted her head, trying to catch the words. She didn’t hear the first thing her sister said, but she definitely heard the second. A butterfly had tricked her sister? Well! She knew what was for lunch! But first, she had to free her sister. Suddenly her sister was shouting in excitement, find my legs well. She could to that.

She circled the tree, searching every inch of it. There! Pale white tail hanging in the breeze, little legs squirming as her sister moved. Fel couldn’t help it, a little giggle escaped her mouth. Her sister would never live this down.

“I can see you!” she clambered up beside to her sister's legs, sticking her nose close to the opening. “Ghee, Mar, you really got yourself stuck” she commented, before moving into position. “Count to three, then pull yourself backwards as hard as you can!” grabbing a leg between her paws, a tail in her mouth yuck! So fluffy! she began to pull and scramble as hard as she could.

Amaris Abraxas

When she finally heard Felicity's voice coming from behind her, a bit more clearly than she had before, the young fawn child let out a sigh. Her sister's comment however, made her huff out in response. "No kidding, just help me out of here Fel!" Her voice was irritated and whining at the same time, her emotions all over the place due to the traumatic experience. For sure, Amaris would suffer from a fear of small dark places for the next... foreseeable future. Hearing her sister's plan, Amaris prepared herself for the biggest stretch of her life. "Ow! Easy Fel!" She yipped, feeling her sister's sharp puppy teeth grabbing hold of her tail. Yup. This was most definitely going to hurt.

She let out a shaky breath, before nodding to herself. "Okay, I'm ready." Forepaws braced themselves against the inside of the tree, ready to push with all the might a small pup could muster. "One... two... three!" She would push as hard as she could against the inside of the tree, eyes clamped shut as she sucked in her pot belly of a stomach to hopefully make the extraction as easy as possible. The foot her sister had between her paws extended in the most uncomfortable fashion, and her tail was yank so hard she could have called out in pain, but she didn't. After a few, strenuous seconds of pulling and pushing, there was a sudden 'pop' before Amaris found herself laying on top of her dearest sister, and not the tree. Relief flooded her emotions as a wide smile spread across her face; "Ha... ha! I'm free! We did it! We did it Fel!"

Mar called out the countdown, which was a good thing since Fel’s mouth was full of fluff. When her sister hit three, both of the girls began to pull and push as much as they could. The young Abraxas let out a groan of effort, and then suddenly there was a pop and Fel went flying onto her back. A sudden on her chest drove the oxygen out of her stomach, and she spent a moment huffing in air as fast as she could.

She almost choked when she realised her sisters tail was in her mouth still, and her deep intake sucked in fur. She coughed and hacked. “Ge’of’ome!” she wheezed, shoving her sister off. “Ghee Mar, you Heffalump” she complained, scrambling to her feet and surveying the tree. Then she giggled. “Mar, there’s fur all over the entrance, that tree really got you good.” she spent another few moments in mirth at her sister’s expense, before she got serious again. “We gotta find that bug and eat it. No one messes with my sister and lives.”
