Lost in Motion

How slowly time seemed to pass when the journey was so long. It stretched out before her, snaking its way back to the source of her destruction and she dutifully followed along. Pyralis dreaded to see the remnants of the canyon. All existence of her former pack would be wiped out now and there was always the risk that she might find bodies half buried in the mud and muck. She wasn't sure she was ready for that but still she was drawn to the destruction, fascinated by the macabre even if it was the blood of her own family that had been spilled.

Pyralis strode into the canyon with as much poise and grace as she could muster. She would not let the forces of nature bow her. Her paws swept across the stony surface as she gazed down at the river that was still rushing through, helped by the violent monsoon rains. Sticks and debris cluttered and choked the canyon, fallen cascades of stone mutilated and twisted the torrent of water. No sign of blood. No sign of bodies… yet.
