He was taking Anoixi out today to explore the pack lands and to spend some time with him. He had enjoyed each time he had with his three daughters and he was really looking forward to a day with one of his boys. He wanted to see what his likes were, what he showed interest in. He wanted to see his boy's personality when he was away from the others and do whatever he could to make him bloom into a young man, to prepare him to be an adult and to be there in every step of his life if he was able to. Frost knew he was older and knew that this was his only chance to get parenting right and he would try his hardest to be the best parent he could.
"Anoixi," he called from the leafy curtain of the willow.
He waited for his son, his dark tail gently wagging behind him. His boys were a little rowdy, but so was he at their age. He only hoped he could give him something interesting enough to hold his attention today.
Whenever they were allowed outside Anoixi would bound out of the den; his childlike enthusiasm often too much even for him, it wasn't uncommon for him to trip over his own excited flailing and this was no exception. His father called for him and the pup suddenly shot up from his playful rolling on the ground of the den. Tongue lolling from his parted job the boy shot out of the den like a bullet, tripping over his own paws and tumbling into his father's legs. His tail wagged, kicking up dirt as he lay on his back, gazing up at his dad. A few barks pulled from his lungs before he finally spoke actual words. "Hi Dad!"
Anoixi rolled awkwardly onto his paws, twisting in ways only a young flexible body could, until he was standing before his father, tail still beating the air with vigor. He knew his father had been taking his sisters out on their own adventures and now he was hopeful he'd also get to get on his own father-son adventure.
His son was quick to answer his call, shooting out of the den as fast as a spooked deer. He was still growing into his paws and soon tumbled over himself and into Frost's legs. Frost chuckled as Anoixi laid on his back staring up at him. He bent his head down and attempted to tickle his son's belly with his nose, but Anoixi was quick to roll to his feet before Frost could do so. He knew Anoixi was thinking it was his turn to go out, and he was right. It was a day for a father and a son. He looked forward to spending time with his boys as much as his girls.
"You ready for your day out to explore," Frost asked with a smile. "If so lead the way!"
He wondered what all the two of them would get into, what type of exploring he would do compared to his sisters. Frost was ready to take on the day with Anoixi at his side. Frost fallowed his son keeping up was easy with his long legged strides.
Anoixi's suspicons were confirmed when his father asked him a question and unable to contain himself he nodded vigorously. Having to suddenly stop and close his eyes to keep the pounding in his head from overwhelming him. Still nothing could keep him from his excitement for getting to have an adventure with his father. His dad told him to lead the way and the boy bounced on his paws, eyes scanning for where he wanted to go.
As his gaze roved over the willows, an idea jumped into his mind and he bound away towards the river edge. His father was easily keeping stride with him and as he approached the stream bed he glanced up at his dad, pausing. He jumped from paw to paw, dancing with excitement. "Can we look at da water?" He asked, his eyes alight with the prospect of getting to explore a part of the territory he'd been warned to avoid.
Frost was happy and proud to see such eagerness and excitement from Anoixi. He was glad to finally be able to spend some time with one of his boys, being able to relate so much better with them. He felt he could read thier minds a little better since he was a young male himself at one point in his life. He easily fallowed behind his bounding son as he led the way through the territory. He kept an eye on where Anoixi was headed. He held his breath slightly when he realized he was being lead right to the river. Though the river was lazy and easy going there was places where it could get deep. It could be dangerous, but Frost knew one thing. It was either Anoixi explored it while he was at his side to rescue him, or he would do it by himself and potentially get hurt or drown. It was easy for Frost to know that the better decision was to explore it now. The river wasn't connected to anything and with it's easy going flow he couldn't get swept away.
"Alright, but you must stay vary close to me understood? You have not swam yet so we need to take this slowly okay?" He was calm yet authoritative as he spoke wanting Anoixi to realize how important it was to listen.
This could be a great lesson on teaching him to swim so that this lazy river wouldn't become much of a threat to his smaller form. He walked up beside him before gently nodding and moving into the water slightly. He would stop once his own paws were covered with water, looking to make sure Anoixi would stop as well.
Anoixi father gave him the all clear and the boy bound towards the shore of the river, stopping at the edge and dancing on his paws as he turned to wait for his father to join him, as his father stepped into the water the pup dropped into a crouch; his rump wiggling and tail beating the air frantically. He would have taken a full leap into the water if he hadn't suddenly remembered his father's warning.
So instead he slid slowly into the slow current, squealing slightly as the cool water hit his ankles. "It's cold!" He exclaimed happily up at his father, moving fully into the river, the water upto his elbows by the time he reached his father. The current wasn't particularly strong but he wasn't used to it and his fur being tugged made him a bit more wobbly than he was already. "What next?" He didn't exactly know what swimming actually meant; as far as he knew this was swimming but he was also eager to try anything else his father was going to show him.
Frost watched him wade in, heading his words and taking it slow with the water. When he was beside him Frost took time to notice how much taller he was then his son. His son was up to his elbows as he stood beside him in the water. He smiled as Anoixi then asked what was next. The current wasn't that strong and he looked pretty steady for being in the water for the first time. He figured this would be a good time to teach him to swim. They had plenty of time and the weather was good for it so he wanted to seize the opportunity.
"How about a swimming lesson," he said with a grin before he circled around his son.
He positioned himself so he was down stream from Anoixi that way if he lost balance Frost would easily be able to catch him.
"When you swim you have to use all four of your legs, kicking forward then pulling back. Your tail you use for balance and to help steer your body where you want to go. Now if you loose balance with the current I'll be here to catch you. Try when your ready," he said with a smile, ready to fallow his son's movements and to be ready to catch him if need be.
