Ghosts in the Fog

Already her paws were covered in muck, her fur changed from silvery moonlight to a thick mud. She waded through the shallow water, careful to avoid any giant reptiles that might be on the look out for an easy meal. Her ears were perked and her eyes searched for any sign of a bigger predator than herself. Vira wasn’t even sure at that moment why she’d thought coming to the swamp would be a good idea.
She regretted her foolish decision with each step she took, but further and further in she went. The hanging mosses started casting more than dubious shadows as the sun began to fall behind the horizon. She felt her ears fall to her skull as she did her best not to jump at every small noise. She’d never believed in ghosts but if ever there was a time to start it was now. Fog was beginning to rise from the murky waters and the wind had picked up into a nerve wracking howl. She wished Gaios was with her then, he’d protect her. She needed to learn to get by on her own though, and protect her own self
