Valkyrie took in the northern lights gravely. Everyone had their stories to explain the meaning of the lights, but growing up Valkyrie's favorite, the one she'd heard many a time from her nursemaid, explained the lights as a bridge between this world and the next. Fallen soldiers were guided to Valhalla by it. Even as a pup she'd thought it a fitting end for their brave fighters. To be welcomed to the great hall by such a sight had to be a marvelous experience.

The shine of the polar lights was bright enough to paint the ice and snow around her in pastels. The many spires and archways seemed to glow and shimmer. All in all she thought it a fitting farewell to her fallen kin, wherever they may be.

She walked slowly along the edge of the lake, her gaze shifting constantly from the ground ahead to the sky above. It was hard not to watch. Though she had much experience with auroras Valkyrie doubted she would ever tire of seeing them.

Persephone was till new to this world, but the lights above her russet head were familiar. She had seen them often when she was young, although her memories from her puphood were vague. She remembered she had a mother and that her mother had named her “Blind one” because her eyes had been the last to open but there were few other memories she could lay claim to. She followed the lights wistfully, her two headed companion nestled into her thick fur to shield themselves from the relentless cold of the deep north. When she arrived at the lake she found she was not alone, but gave no greeting to the russet female aside from a passing look. She walked over to the lake and with the full force afforded to her large frame the fae threw herself onto a patch of thin ice to free the frigid water beneath with a great crack. She helped herself to the water, then lifted her head and looked at the female again, silently wondering if she had gotten her attention with her doubtlessly impressive display of strength. Valkyrie continued to gaze up at the sky until movement out of the corner of her eye drew her attention down from the heavens. For a brief moment the two wolves looked at each other, and then the stranger carried on and Valkyrie was free to inspect the other openly. Oh, who was she kidding. She would have done it anyway even with the stranger's gaze on her.

After a beat, when it became clear the other's interest was firmly laid elsewhere and she had no need to keep more than a safety-ensuring awareness on the red-haired female, Valkyrie's attention returned to the march of the Valkyries. Not even the sharp crack of ice brought the bulk of it down to earth again.
