Not the Summer Sun

Rhythm yawned softly, though it was the middle of the day. She was taking advantage of the sun. It didn’t shine near as much during the winter, but when it did she was on her boulder soaking it up. The rays coated her pelt and despite the low air temperature Rhythm felt warm. Her joints were creaky and she was a little sore, but overall she was enjoying the quiet nap. The buffalo had passed by not long ago and the scent of them filled the air. They too were taking advantage of the sun.

She had cleared the snow off of her boulder, though it lay thickly around her den. She lingered here in her favorite spot frequently enough that the paths leading to and from her ancient den site were returning. They were even easier to follow with the snow. She was coming back into her own slowly, and she was content with her progress.
