A Good Place To Brood

Malleus had been spending a great deal of time wandering Auster in search of things that might benefit the Empire in some way. Today his wandering had brought him to a place that on its face didn't appear to offer much. While it didn't seem likely, Malleus was hoping that the stinking, fiery lake had a hidden secret of some sort. Perhaps a rare plant that thrived in its smelly atmosphere. He could hope, right? He paused to look around near one of the cracks that belched foul air. Hunting for useful items wasn't the only thing that had brought him out this way. No, he had a lot on his mind lately. The Empire was quickly filling up, which was a very good thing, but it left him with a bit of a problem. How did he go about supporting such a large pack? Would it be better to expand or to break off a piece and create something new? Archon's desire to create a band had gotten him thinking. Perhaps it was time for the Empire to create its own band. At any rate it was something to consider. While that problem was certainly of great importance, another was trying very hard to steal his attention away. Serene had been very scarce as of late and it concerned him. It was about time for them to think about a second litter and yet in good conscience Malleus couldn't bring himself to seriously entertain the possibility when he saw so little of her. If his father were around Malleus would have sought his advice, but he wasn't and considering his position over them, Malleus didn't feel comfortable talking to any of his pack members. If he couldn't talk to his father or his pack, who then could he talk to? Malleus shook himself. It was a problem for another day. Today he was on a mission. |
