A matronly coydog whose gray fur bears white brindling bustles up to the pups and looks them over. Her eyes fall on Eurus and Aureus, and she is quick to gather the pair of them together. "Come along dears," she coos to the two of them, and bundles them over to a circle of stones set into a ring in the ground. "All right then, sweeties, make sure you stay inside the ring, ok? If you step out I'll have to disqualify you, I'm afraid. I'll declare a winner when we are ready, but remember that its having fun that counts. Darling, you go ahead and go first," she adds to Aureus.

Aureus could barely contain himself. He danced lightly from foot to foot as he waited for the tournament to start. Nerves rattled through him, clashed with excitement and resulted in a feeling he just couldn't place. He felt a nudge on his shoulder as he turned to look at Kali. "Ease up there Aureus, you're gonna wear a hole in the ground. Save your energy for the battles to come." Aureus took a few deep breaths and tried to calm himself. His dad was here. His dad, his family, were going to be watching. Losing was not an option. He had to uphold his family name and as a young godling he couldn't fathom losing to a mortal but at the same time he knew it wasn't out of the realm of possibility. What would he do if he lost? Would his father yell at him? Would he be exiled?  Would… would he be culled?

Aureus swallowed and steeled himself. Of course he'd win! He was going to do his family proud. A coydog approached him and another boy about his height. They were to be paired against one another in a fight. Aureus nodded politely to the boy, then made a face at him as he gestued to the coydog when she wasn't look. Dears? Sweeties? He was a warrior!

Getting settled in the ring he took his place and nodded at the coydog. Ok, so the first move was his. Aureus glanced at Kali and the jaguar nodded, he was good to go. Aureus lowered his skull and tail to align with his spine as his fur and hackles stood on end. His ears pinned to his head and he rolled his shoulders forward while scrunching his neck back. Making sure his weight was even over his limbs he set his stance, claws digging into the earth. A silent countdown ran through his mind before he kicked off toward Eurus.

Aureus attempted to close the distance between himself and Eurus. He sought to approach the other male head on but slightly to his own right so that his left shoulder lined up with the groove between Eurus' left shoulder and chest. Aureus hoped to hit with enough force to sprain the other boy's left shoulder. Simultaneously he twisted his head to his left as he sought to latch onto the other boys face with his fangs. Aureus sought for his upper fangs to pierce the flesh above the boy's left eye with his lower fangs seeking to land below the boy's left cheek. He hoped to leave deep punctures and get a good, solid grip on his opponents head.

For now Kali hung back from the battle, keeping an eye on the proceedings and looking for a good opening for attack.

He and another boy were picked out and led away from the crowd. He hadn't been sure where they were going, but knew his father was here somewhere to watch. Eurus knew he wanted to be a fighter, to protect what was his and to be able to fight with the best. This would be his first spar and he was excited for it, excited to test out his skills that his father had already taught him. Then from here he would be seeking out Zell for further training. What he hadn't expected was the jaguar that traveled with the other male. He would have to be sure to know where that cat was. He caught the other's faces at the women coydog and snickered a grin, clearly amused by the golden male. Listening to the instructions he stepped into the circle of stones and took up his end while the other took his end. The directions were simple enough and Eurus felt he was ready for this. Squaring off he set his defenses, spreading his legs to evenly distribute his weight. He would roll his shoulders, level his head, dig his nails into the ground, and stand at the ready. The golden male was to go first so his eyes watched both him and his companion, looking for what he might do. The male came in a full force charge. While the male was charging he took one step to the left and reset his defenses. He was able avoid the charged clash. As the male's head swung, Eurus folded his right leg, dropping his front right side of his body, while lashing out with his own jaws aiming to take hold of the young male's right leg. Aureus' jaws snapped down onto Eurus scruff. Eurus then pushed forward and right as his right leg returned to being flat on the ground. He wanted to push himself under the male to push him backward. Eurus was faster than Aureus had anticipated. He dodged to Aurry's right causing the godling's simultaneous attacks to miss. His shoulder struck nothing and his jaws, which were meant for Eurus' face, instead ripped through the right side of the boy's scruff. There wasn't much to show for it, mostly fur, which he quickly spat out, and a small smattering of blood. Since the Wreckage male had dodged out of the way they were now parallel and Aureus decided to let his momentum carry him forward along Eurus' right side.  It would be too hard to stop anyway after that explosive start. In doing so when Eurus ducked down his fangs missed Aureus' front right leg and instead cut into his right hind leg, just above his hock, leaving light lacerations. Eurus push to get under him would miss as well since Aureus was already pushing violently past the front half of his opponent in a bid for he other boy's leg.

Aureus' jaws spread wide as his hind legs bunched behind him and he launched himself for Eurus' right hind leg, seeking to slip his jaws into the flesh where the upper thigh met the boy's side. He wanted to dig his jaws right into that crease and crash them together, shredding muscle and connective tissue. He quickly tucked his tail, aware that his rear was probably in plain view. Thank goodness he had a cat up his sleeve.

As if on cue Kali sprang into the fray. He'd been circling the dueling pair and now leapt into action. He had been on Eurus' left side, perpendicular to the male's left shoulder when he made his move. The cat leapt forward, his fangs seeking to dig into the top of Eurus' left shoulder, his left claws looking to find purchase on the back of the boy's neck, with his right claws seeking the boys back just behind the shoulder blades.

Though he was able to miss most of the other male's attack he managed to be bit on the scruff, which the other male quickly spit out the bits of fur and some blood from his scruff. Eurus seemed to miss his own mark as well as the other male pushed forward. He ended up biting onto Aureus' hind leg instead. He wasn't able to get under the male and push him like he wanted to. Eurus left go of his bite shortly after it landed, continuing with his momentum of getting up on all fours again. Eurus hadn't been smart enough as he felt the other males teeth make contact with his hind leg, above the thigh. Grunting he would redistribute his weight, coiling his right hind leg in an attempt to make less damage, to try and make it harder for the other male to do any sort of shaking and relaxing the muscles his teeth were into and putting tension in the muscles on the back of his leg. Opening his jaws and tilting the top of his skull to the left he sought to drive his bite into the male's hind leg, the meaty backside of the leg. He also had forgotten that the cat was there, another strike against him and would help him to learn better, he however had his defenses up as best as he could. The cat's attack landed how he wanted it to, the fangs and the left claws hitting their marks and doing damage. The right claws dug into fur and partially caught against the spot that the other male already had bit into. Eurus held his spot knowing if he moved with the cat's hold it could do more damage to his shoulder. Eurus tapped out and Aureus let out a cheer as he backed off from his opponent. Kali quickly returned to his side and the coydog declared him the winner. Aureus couldn't wait to tell his dad how the fight went, assuming Malleus hadn't just seen the whole thing. Kali bumped his head affectionately against Aureus' shoulder. They were turning out to be a pretty good team and he rather liked the boy he'd spared against.

Aureus trotted over to Eurus. "Hey, good match! That was a close one. I just wanted to say my name is Aureus, just in case we ever run into each other again." In truth, he wouldn't mind sparring the boy or maybe just going on an adventure with him. Most of his time seemed to be spent with his siblings and it would be nice to have some outside friends. Of course, he'd have to discuss it with his father. He wasn't sure if there were any rules he needed to keep in mind when befriending mortals.

Eurus was lost at what he could do to get out of this situation, between the cat having him and the other boy he was done. He didn't know what to do so he tapped out, gave up, and was declared the loser. Once the cat got of him and he relaxed his body he shook out his form, wincing slightly from where the other boy's companion had a hold of him. He hoped he would have a decent break before his next spar. He would need a bit of a rest. The other male seemed friendly as he spoke, telling him he had a good fight and introducing himself. Eurus grinned at the other male, Their names sounded somewhat similar which was pretty cool in his opinion. "Yea you too! You two make a good team together," he started. "Eurus. It would be cool if we did. Good luck on the rest of the tournament!" Eurus wasn't going to be a sore loser and who knows maybe this other male would be up for meeting up after the tournament so Eurus can learn some moves from him. He had been much better then Eurus expected and he knew there was so much more he needed to learn. "speech"
