As the match before concluded, the maimed loser was rushed from the ring and a trio of coydogs quickly scrubbed the blood from the circle and laid a new layer of sand over it for fresh footing. Nitro puffed up his chest and looked over the remaining wolves standing at the ready. "Next up we have... these two!" he boomed out, gesturing for Laisren and Melanthios to step into the ring. "Same rules apply: stay in the ring, and don't get die! Start us off, Red!" he barked to Melanthios.

This was it.

The big ones…

Melanthios’ fiery gaze danced with interest as they waited for their turn in this part of the tournament. They were excited… they wouldn't lie. Would they walk away with a new scar after this? Time would tell.

Melanthios stepped forward when they were addressed by their coat color, gaze sliding to the male that they had been paired with. A smaller creature -- though many of the wolves were smaller to some degree here than the red beast. Melanthios dipped their head to the male and spoke.

“We are Melanthios Kedieo. Let’s make it interesting, shall we?”

They arched a brow, a cocky grin appearing on their face. This was the type of fight that Melanthios really enjoyed… a new scar… a new story to tell.

Melanthios set their defenses swiftly and plowed forth, paws thundering over the earth as they went straight for the man that was to be their opponent. They parted their jaws and turned their head to their left, aiming to clamp their upper jaw down on the right side of Laisren’s muzzle at the base and their lower jaw at the left side. They also sought to crunch down and gain a small hold if at all possible. Melanthios also moved their right foreleg forward and made the move to stomp down on Lais’ left forepaw in an attempt to bruise his toes or even fracture them.

But how the male responded would dictate how successful, or not, Mela was in their attacks.

This was a more serious fight then he had with Miach, but Lais felt ready. It didn't take him long to get up and fallow as for the second time he was picked out of the crowd. His opponent was massive, much bigger then himself and a heavy weight. Lais already knew he would have to use his agility and quick movements to his advantage against the other. He knew the rules already, but respectively listened as he took his place within the ring. The other introduced themselves and for a moment Lais didn't know how to speak, but he didn't have time before the other was already in motion. Laisren quickly set his defenses and before the other got to close launched forward and to the left, whipping his hind end to the left to align himself parallel to his opponent. Then tucking his muzzle and chin as his opponent's jaws headed his way and in doing so the other's attack landed on his scruff just behind his ears. During the same process Lais opened his jaws and sought to snap them down on the other's right front leg, his upper teeth aiming for the front part of Melanthios' leg while his lower teeth aimed for the back part of the leg. Melanthios didn’t mind that their initial attack missed their opponent. They found their fangs taking purchase in the scruff of the male, teeth sinking in as they felt blood well up in their mouth. This was good… a start to the good battle they were hoping to accomplish. The red beast shifted their weight, hoping that they’d be able to keep their hold on the lighter male and cause some more damage. They secretly hoped that he too would be able to leave a mark on them… a momento from this battle.

Sure enough their opponent’s teeth found purchase on their leg and Melanthios growled through their grip, feeling pain blossom from the area. But that only fueled them into further action, attempting to lock onto their hold more firmly before they began lashing their head back and forth. This could cause more damage to both of them should they be successful… but hopefully the damage to their opponent would be more -- enough to make him release them at the very least!

They also attempted to use their left foreleg and sweep it up around the male’s right one and encourage him to stumble forward, hopefully losing his balance.
