Way Down We Go
Through the green of the fast growing spring grass rises the tracks of the earth, those pathways made by the animals over the rain washed ground. It emerges strong and rich, the kind of brown that soothes and compliments the blue sky.
In the babe weariness she kicked at the ground with her tail, scuffing the soil. She stopped. Peeking though the lush weeds was not the pale rocky clay of a few miles previously, this soil was so rich it was quite black. She fell to her knees, the soft earth cushioning her fall, and dug her claws into the black gold. The soil here on the delta was different than the time she visited previously. All around her a new life has formed and different herbs and flowers gave way to Spring in a way only Mother Nature could. All that could be seen in front of her was the silhouetted dark shape of the delta, rolling on for miles and visible up until a touch of the raising moon light scathed the horizon. In the darkness, the unexpected scent reached her, of honey- heather- and- gorse bush that seemed to be embroidered into the very landscape.

He tried to focus his energy on the prey in front of him, but the few short moments he spent fighting off that inner demon of his caused him to lose focus of where he was, and the buck bounded towards the river, forcing Cloud to stop in his tracks as it had its head start.
Growling in frustration, he lashed his tail as he came to a halt at the waters edge. Even if he had jumped in after it, the buck would have made it to the other side and well on it's way before he made it out of the water. He dropped his haunches to the ground as he watched it leave. His Osprey returned, uttering a screech to alert him of a nearby presence, but he was far too focused on the fact that he lost a perfectly good catch.
Something sounded against the slick soil and a fat rabbit was suddenly visible. The frightened creature stared at the cinnamon mistress with it sharp, noble eyes as it was unveiled from its cover when in the dark, smoky bitter blue sky, something shifted and the entirety of the rolling hills was all of a sudden bathed in a whimsical silver. The air there could be sold for millions in a polluted country, and a glimpse of the moon and of the stars that seemed to lilt in and out of existence could inspire anyone who is lost. She was bewitched by it, intoxicated on the strange yearning that it brought her; the place brought with it freedom and also melancholy.
Alas, she could not let this chance slip from her, not now at least when her stomach has made it self know therefore, within a moment, fiery orange gaze snapped back towards the herbivore and she lounged forward. Her pupils narrowed into almost feline slits as she began the chase of cat and dog. The chase with only one victor emerging upon other. Predator and prey. The predatorix was not going to let this chance pass as the three devilchops she brought into this world were growing day by day so were their stomachs and they had to be fed. There was not much she could hunt on her own, she was much more known for her cunning and agility than brute strenght however this would make a nice meal for the three hungry pups.
Moments passed and the rabbit laid within her crimson stained jaws. Panting was the mistress of the dark, turning on her heels however a strong, palpable cologne of a male hit her nostrils and she could not help but be taken aback by the familiarity of it. It was someone from her Kingdom but one she could not place a name to. Curiosity won over rationality and she began to gracefully slide across the muddy terrain of the delta, rabbit hanging, in the direction of the source. She would find out, as soon as the white and black male came into view, that there was not, in fact, that much distance between them to begin with. The babe pace lessened, confidence radiating from her body as her posture straightened to encounter the other. Feline like bodice, lithe, curvaceous came to a halt just as she dropped the rabbit to her teacup paws, seven tails away from the male. Greetings. vampiric, sultry tones erupted from succulent, crimson stained lips as she noded her regalia in a slight but cordial courtesy.

He was far from happy at the moment. Displeasure practically radiated off of him as he sulked at the waters edge, eyes focused on the trail the buck had taken. Even when his companion had alerted him to the approach of another, he didn't bother moving until the feminine voice reached him with a single, simple word. Ears twitched and he turned to look at her then, noticing that she seemed familiar. A quick sniff told him she was in his pack, but he had never really talked to her before now. He'd seen her around on more than one occasiona, even heard about her from his brother. But never had he bothered to interact with her. Not because of the rumors, but because it was just how he was. He was a socially awkward creature sometimes, and didn't actively seek out companionship or conversation with anyone that wasn't family.
"Hey," He was far less formal than the exotic babe before him, but he didn't particularly care at the moment. His gaze then fell to the ground at her feet, noticing that she had managed to catch herself a rabbit. Well...at least she had better luck than he did. He scowled a bit for a moment but it quickly faded away. He couldn't be mad at her because she had managed to catch something and he didn't, that would be childish. Instead, he returned his attention to her molten gaze. "I see we're from the same pack, but I'm afraid I'm not entirely sure who you are." Well...he did...sort of. But he wasn't about to tell her what he'd heard. |

Cloud hunted constantly for the pack. There was never a shortage of food, but whether or not others chose to take from the pile of food he often left for them was up to them. He did his best to keep it stocked, especially when there were hungry and growing pups to feed. The woman who approached him said she recognized him, and it took him a moment to realize that. They lived together, and when he dug through his memories, realized she was the woman he had bested in a spar a while back. How had he not realized sooner? She was rather unforgettable, but he supposed when his mind was always focused more on hunting than anything else, he could have easily forgotten it. "You are Tyranis' brother."
Yes. He was. And it seemed that's all anyone knew him as. While she likely didn't mean anything bad by it, his soured mood made him a bit annoyed by that. He did often keep to himself, working in his brothers shadow both in Erovrare, and back in Dauntless. He knew it was his own fault though, he tended to let his brother take the lead on just about everything. Maybe it was time he stepped up more and made a name for himself..."Yes, Cloudburst. I remember you, we sparred once." He didn't know much about her other than what he'd been told or heard through the grapevine, but he decided to reserve his judgment about her for now. "You're Nephthys, right?" |

"You're a mighty opponent." Her words surprised him, but he didn't show it. He chalked it up to being nothing more than flattery. He didn't think he was. Not yet. Though he had fought a bear with the help of his brother and Hannibal, he had yet to really participate in any actual fights. He felt he just got lucky the day he sparred with her. "Thank you. You weren't bad yourself," He offered a small smile to her. Perhaps one day they'd spar again, but perhaps at a much later time. When tensions between her and his brother dwindled. He wasn't afraid of her, no. But in the name of his brother, he was afraid the beast in his head would try to come out to seek its vengeance. He shook his head to shake the thought away. He didn't ever try to hurt someone on purpose...and he didn't want to. It was why he tried so hard to maintain control of himself.
"What is a handsome male like you doing here on his own?" What? He found himself blushing, ears pressing back in an awkward manner. Oh boy. He would have probably been just fine till she said that. He was never really sure how to handle compliments or when someone was flirting with him. In fact, almost everytime someone tried to flirt with him it went right over his head, oblivious to it. But not this time. Based on the way she seemed to look at him, it was as plain as the nose on his face. "I was erm...trying to hunt but...it got away from me," He turned his gaze across the water where the buck had disappeared, feeling the rising frustration from his lost hunt. |
