Caelia was slowly, begrudgingly, growing used to life without her mother. Despite the extra attention that Aurielle had given her, and her own newfounded goals to learn about how packs worked - even ones outside of Valhalla, as the pack had been renamed - she still felt uneasy and restless in her own pelt. The pain of losing Gwenevere had hardly lessened, but it was no longer at the forefront of her mind at every waking moment. Slowly she was growing able to focus on other things, though her loss was not easily pushed aside. It hung heavily at the back of her mind, and she'd mistaken various packmates for her mother - if but for a split second - more than once lately.

Either way, she was doing... marginally better, but better. Better enough on the surface. There was no outward signs that her mind was dipping into a relatively dark place as she ventured through the plains, veering cautiously across the familiar terrain. A quiet sigh fell from her lips as she continued on through the tall grass, deciding that the day was growing slightly too warm to remain out in the open for much longer. Not that she had many options. Tongue lolling from the side of her mouth, she headed toward the direction she knew the nearest stream to be, moving with intent.

He had done a lot of work yesterday with restocking the kill pile and helping with patrolling the borders. He had less work today even with still needing to do patrols around the border. Spring had brought changes and tragedies. There was a new pack names and ranks, a new rank for himself, but there was still him getting used to Gwen not being around. He hadn't spent much time with her, but the times he had he was still remembering. One big thing had been the bear hunt, an exciting and dangerous thing he participated in. They had brought down the bear, despite having a small number of help. Gwen had also helped him realize his true path within the pack and he was forever grateful to the women for opening his eyes.

Thinking about other things she had left behind lead him to thinking about her pups, nearly yearlings. They were around the same age as he had been when both of his parents died and he remembered how difficult of a time he had. Regulus had been lucky enough to have pack duties to keep him moving and occupied. Lais didn't have that at the time and since his litter mates had long disappeared he had no one to help him through things. Most of his older siblings had already faded from the life they had been born into around here, but Lais stuck around. He had always..... stuck around no matter how he felt. He wanted to help Gwen's kids but how did he explain how he had gotten through that dark time in his life? Not being able to explain had kept him from approaching any of them to personally see how they were doing.

The lanky hunter was sprawled out on the shore of stream, the one that was closest to Caelia's current position. He was taking a break from the warm sun and cooling off before his next patrol. He had found a nice shady spot by the stream and that's where he had settled for now.

Caelia hadn't expected to encounter anyone today, though perhaps on a day as warm as this one she shouldn't have been so surprised that she might not be the only one thinking of lounging alongside the river. Her mind was restless currently and she was eager to find something to distract herself. That something being another wolf wasn't exactly what she had in mind, but as she pushed through the thick grasses she realized she wouldn't be alone. At least for a short while.

"Hello, Laisren," Caelia greeted him once he came into view. He looked about as comfortable as she wanted to be right now. A faint smile touched her lips as she slowed her pace, coming to a halt a few feet from the older male.  "How's the afternoon treating you?" It struck her suddenly that she didn't know much about the black and white coated male, and she decided that she ought to work on changing that.
