one step, two step
the area was full of life, as to be expected. little critters rummaged through the foliage in search of food, while larger beasts fed on those foolish enough to get close. of course, the obvious drought did hinder the life to be held here. there wasn't as much prey running and the lack of liquid was costly to all. the predators attacked mercilessly and desperately. she had seen a few things on her travels through the east, but desperation was enough to coil reservations. Heloise stepped as a sore thumb amongst the droughted greenery. her thick white coat was visibly soaked in sweat, though it retained its shine; a signal of health. she was not so easily deterred.
hiding until the heat died down... well if she always did that she'd get nowhere in life. it was not like she had an ebony coat either; the ivory did its best to stand up to the weather. it was because the pelt was thicker. it was heavily worn. the north was her goal, the mountains a distant speck for now. she did not know how long she had traveled for or what her actual intentions were in this land, however. it all seemed to blur together in a haze. her only companion was the soft footfalls she made each time she stepped down on the earth. nothing graced her lips as she walked. she was obviously alone and without companions. a lone wolf amongst the other wolves seeking to claim ranks and titles for themselves.
time would tell if she became one of them. Heloise remained untainted - though not naive - of the land around her. her concentration was bothered due to the heat and she was not aware if another was fast approaching. |

The serpent had returned to the east, though his sister was not with him at this moment. They had departed that barren plain some time ago, and had settled into a more comfortable rhythm. Knowing they were close once more, and being within reach, eased his stress somewhat. There was still the matter of the wretched heir that needed to be dealt with, but he was sure that if he honed his skills here there would be no issue striking the malignant sore of his half brother from the earth. Dark forepaws slipped fluidly through the dry grasses of the open plain, skirting around hot stones that erupted from the soil here and there. His two toned form stuck out amongst the low lying foliage, and the landscape was dreary with dehydration. He wondered if he might be better off moving into the shade until the night returned and he could safely move about. This thought was whisked away by the elegant form of a pallid female, small in form but pale as the driven snow. Cerulean gaze sparkled with intrigue as he slunk closer, long limbs drawing him towards the waif. He had spotted her well over a hundred yards away, she was headed north while he was continuing east towards the sea. Thus, he no doubt caught himself in her peripheries. Yet, she made no move to acknowledge him as he approached. Chiseled features schooled themselves into a charming grin as he drew up along her left side, keeping roughly a foot of space between them if she would remain on course. "You seem like someone on a mission," he drawled lazily, brow lifting curiously as though to goad her into spilling her motives for charging across the sun beaten plains at this time of day. her eyes retreated from the full acceptance of the weather to a more sharper, colorful alertness. her head swung to meet the gaze of another as they boldly approached, keeping in the step of her travels. a man of black and white, of equal balance between the two hues, with eyes as ice. he did not ask, merely state, if she was on a mission of sorts. seeing nothing outwardly wrong with him, Heloise nodded curtly. though she was not going to give the details of it.
so instead, she would be left with a rare lie passing through her lips. she had no reason to tell the bold man her life's story. Heloise remained tight-lipped about that to all. "only to find shelter from this heat." but it was also a half-truth. the heat was unbearable though she could bear it if push came to shove. her coat was not dark; she did not attract the humidity as some other wolves could. she wished to ask if he had a reason for charging at her though that would be rude. she was also quite weary from her travels, and if he decided to take offense she could only idly defend herself. best play it safe. |
