This festival was an eye opening event. Amaretto had been on the fence about attending, but she was glad she had. Boreas was an interesting place full of interesting wolves. Their faces as they expressed their rage at a near miss or their elation after a successful catch were so outlandish she very nearly expressed her own shock upon seeing them. Never before had she been surrounded by such vulgarity. Presently she was belly high in saltwater, her eyes fixed on the fish that swam just out of reach. She stood very still and willed them to swim closer. In the end her patience paid off as a small school meandered closer. Amaretto waited until they were withing lunging range...and then she did just that, leaping into the water with closed eyes and blindly snapping at the place they'd just been. "Speech"|"Ademre"

Presently, Ashmedai had a bone to pick... or rather he was picking his teeth with a bone. Fish bones were good for that when they weren't stabbing into your gums. When one wolf threw herself into the water blindly Ashmedai couldn't help but laugh. Was she trying to catch fish like that? Well, Ash had never been one to miss out on a fun time. He quickly shoved the bone into his floral shirt pocket and dove in beside her.

"Naaaah, you gotta try like this!" he shouted as she also flailed about, trying to grab a fish of how own. Between the two of them, they probably looked about like a pair of fish out of water.

Though she dove with her eyes closed, somehow Amaretto managed to snag a fish. She hauled her writhing prize up and threw it towards the bank. Though it didn’t show in her face she was quite satisfied with her catch.

Her smug satisfaction was short lived, however, as a big bumbling behemoth was suddenly beside her, his booming voice cutting through the calm air and very nearly startling her out of the water.

She had never seen anything like him before and no matter how hard she tried to pull it away her eyes kept getting sucked back to his shirt. He dove into the water seemingly without first looking for a target as she had and with his head underwater and no way for him to hear her answer Amaretto was left wondering if he was mocking her or if he genuinely thought his way was better.

“Um...” she said slowly. “My way seems to be working for me...thanks.” To prove her point she did as she’d done the first time. She picked a target, waited for it to get close and then dove for it, her eyes closing and her mouth opening right before impact was made with the saltwater.

Ash hauled up his little bit of catch and plopped it on the shore. The girl seemed totally unimpressed and continued her own way. "Ah come ON!" Ash cried, though a smile played on his face as he dove back into the water after the woman. "How about I try it your way then you try it my way? See? Fair compromise!" What an absolute genius, coming up with a way to compromise on something was wasn't even remotely important.

As if to prove a point, Ash returned to shore and tried it her way, waiting for a fish, targeting it, and making a dive.

Although it didn’t show on her features Amaretto found the male’s boisterous demeanor a bit disquieting. She didn’t think him dangerous or anything like that, but he was (in her book) an oddity. And not the novel, quaint kind. His mannerisms and exuberance were strange and uncouth, and she couldn’t decide if she wanted to get away from him or study him like he was one of those bizarre dung rolling beetles.

Her attempt to catch a fish failed while he somehow found success, and it was for that reason that she gave his compromise consideration. Had she been successful twice in a row she probably would have dismissed him a second time, but she couldn’t deny his success. So, why not?

Amaretto shrugged, the gesture summing up her thoughts nicely, and then said, “Alright, I’ll try it your wa-“

He dove under the water before she could finish so she trailed off and was left eying the bubbles in his wake.

Alright, his way. Amaretto did as she’d seen Ashmedai do and dove into the water...although with a great deal less enthusiasm.

Ash came up from trying it her way, although he ended up with a clump of plants instead. He hauled himself dramatically onto the shore and threw down the severed flora with a loud splat. "See, not that great, is it?" He looked at his catch with great distaste. His way was definitely better in all ways.

She did, however, eventually seem to try it his way, earning a round of joyous laughter from Ashmedai. "That's the spirit!" He yelled after her. He wasn't one to wait around and see what happened, so he threw himself back in with a bound of enthusiasm.

Amaretto too came up with nothing. "See, not that great, is it?" Her tail flicked in annoyance. She disagreed; her method had caught her more fish thus far. Though she hadn't been hurt by it, the blind leaping also felt unsafe, like she was tempting fate by throwing herself into the water without looking first. Agree to disagree? I got nothing with your method either. Perhaps we should each do our own way since we seem to have more luck that way."

Ashmedai threw himself head first into the water again and Amaretto was quick to follow suit - but she made a point to look before she leaped. Her method was better - she was convinced of this - and safer to boot.

Even if she said the blind fishing made her feel unsafe, Ash wouldn't get it. Doing it blindly was more fun. The small threat of danger was the best part. He flashed her a toothy smile when she suggested they agreed to disagreed. "Or we just see who catches more by the end of this," he said. He had every intention to win and immediately after making his claim he turned to ready himself to take his prize in the water. He made a point of closing his eyes before he jumped, hoping the small woman would see his attempts at furthering his temporary blindness.

Amaretto surfaced with a water-spraying snort and quickly found her footing. It was tempting to shake out her coat but she resisted the urge. It would have been pointless; she would soon be diving into the water and soaking her fur all over again.

"Or we just see who catches more by the end of this," he shot back. Amaretto was quick to agree. "Fair enough." Prepare to lose. "What does the winner get?"

A bold fish shot between her front legs and Amaretto quickly brought her limbs together and her chest down in the hopes of pinning the fish before it could get away

She agreed to their competition and Ashmedai flashed her a toothy smile. She asked what the winner got and Ashmedai made a point to take a second to pause and think about it before shrugging, "I dunno... whaddya want?" She could ask for his shirt... his catch... his body. Hah! Someone like her? All emotionless? Thinking about sex? Ashmedai snorted lightly at the thought. Yeah, no... not with her. He could only imagine her flat expression. Okay, no, now Ash might have laughed out loud a little but he quickly reeled himself back in before he made a real fool of himself. "You name it and it's yours if you win," Ash promised.

With that, he closed his eyes dramatically and flung himself back in the fishy waters.

Had she known what Ashmedai was thinking Amaretto may very well have broken tradition and rolled her eyes at him. Typical of the Ademre but perhaps a bit out of sync with their muted emotional display, Amaretto was by no means a prude. Still, she had no interest in this man and her thoughts never once touched on that particular topic.

"We'll see," she said cryptically. In all honesty she had no idea what to ask for. His catch, maybe, if she was feeling greedy. Or perhaps his biggest fish. Not that she needed them. Clearly her method was better.

After a beat she too dove into the water.
