Armando stood on a rock in the water with a long, thin spear clutched between his teeth. He'd done his best to avoid getting wet so far, but the waves that constantly splashed his rock were doing their best to douse him. The little panda was having to juggling fishing with wave watching. If he wasn't careful he might get swept off his rock and then he'd really be in trouble. Armando wasn't much of a swimmer. He'd had to bribe a turtle to get to the island in the first place.

Spying a nearing wave, he crouched down and scuttled sideways to avoid it. Once it was past he ran back to his original spot, stood up on his hind legs and then used his front paws to drive his spear into the water. A large fish had been hovering near the base of his rock and he'd be damned if he let it get away.

Saren had been slowly exploring the island when he spotted a rather odd animal. Slowly and carefully approaching it he saw that it was trying to catch fish with what looked to be some pointy object. This was certainly a sight to see. Saren’s curiosity over powered his hesitancy as he steadily got closer until he was standing in the water a couple feet away. “What is that?” he said eyeing the long stick. This was definitely out of Saren’s comfort zone, but he wasn’t noticing at all. Finding something new took his mind away from all the thoughts it was normally focused on.

Armando hauled the spear back and inspected the fish skewered on the end with a satisfied expression. He then lifted it off the end and dropped it into the bag he'd been given. In hindsight he should have asked if this contest was catch and release, but eh, too late now.

A young voice brought his head around. The one asking about his spear was a young wolf pup. Armando patted the spear appreciatively and replied, "This handy little thing is called a spear." He whipped it around and poked it teasingly in the pup's direction. "It's for catching prey."

He saw a shadow out of the corner of his eye and quickly turned back to the water. With a forceful stab he drove the spear into the water and hopefully into a fish.

Saren remained fascinated by the object that was apparently called a spear, backing up slightly when it was directed towards him. The thought occurred to him as to how on earth the creature was holding it. Saren couldn’t pick up anything with his paws and the amount of things his mouth could carry was rather limited. It seemed that the spear was used by forcing the sharp end through the fish, he wondered if it could be used on prey that wasn’t fish. “Can wolves use those? It looks rather hard to use. Where did you get it?” If Saren could figure out how to use one of those maybe he wouldn’t have to run everywhere to catch prey.

"HaHA!" he exclaimed as he pulled another writhing trout from the water. As he had with the first one, Armando carefully shimmied it into the bag and then slid it off the stick. He was quite pleased with the double pronged spear so far. It was making his task a lot easier.

"I don't see why not. You could hold it in your teeth." He shrugged and then hefted the stick up to inspect the tines. "But then you couldn't use those pearly whites so I suppose there's a trade off. If you're like me and you don't want to get wet, well, it just might work for you. Or," he said absently, "If you want distance between yourself and whatever it is you're poking."

With a grunt Armando stabbed at another passing fish. Boy this was hard on his arms.

His first festival. Needless to say he was excited! He had come with some of his pack members and family, and as soon as he heard about the various events going on, he wasted no time in running off under the watchful eye of his mother to participate. First order of business was fishing! He bounded towards the water, not wholly paying attention to much save for the water and the fish that were in it. His mother was nearby and ready to drag him out if things got too rough, but he was confident he'd be just fine! He was a big boy now, he could do this!

Spotting a flash of silver in the water, he growled and leaped after it, aiming to catch it with his paws before it got away. That was when he heard another splash nearby, and when he looked up he saw a strange little creature on a rock with a pointy stick talking to another kid. "Woah! Who are you?" He questioned both before asking another question, "What are you? You almost look like a cat!"

1st attempt

A creature holding a long stick and two wolves certainly made her a sight, and she smiled as she nodded to all those present. "Fire boy, other pup, and... Okay, what are you?" she questioned lightly of the red panda standing on top of the rock. She hadn't seen a creature like him before, but she certainly eyed his invention being held in paws with some envy. This wasn't the first time she wished she had thumbs like these guys. Ah, well, her paws would do well enough; speaking of which, she took advantage of them once again and swiped towards a shadow darting through the waters.
