A Little Preparation

It was getting to be winter, and therefore the most dangerous time of the year. The time of the year when all was dead, and quiet - all grew slim, herbs were hard to come by, and simple wounds could be fatal due to a lack of care and an inability to provide the necessary items to heal them. It was often in fate's hands, in the winter, and he needed to figure out a way to prevent that. He didn't want anyone to die - or be more permanately affected by something because he and the pack didn't have enough herbs, or potent herbs, to help heal. Something had to be done to preserve. Dried leaves just didn't hold potency.
He actually wanted some of those jars that the firefly festival had, and he was rather sad that he didn't get one; he'd have absolutely kept it. So he had to find a creature - something - that would be willing to make one.
But first, time to gather herbs, and brainstorm. But, he didn't have to do it alone. He had made a friend, and he was sure that friend would appreciate some healing based activities. "Noveeeeeeeeeel," he howled out, in a tone not too loud, but definitely hearable on the plains. Hopefully she was in her den (okay, he'd have bet his new companion she was in her den or near it), and they could bounce ideas off each other.
