"She just walked away

Why didn't she tell me?"

He had been completely shocked by what Erani had told him. He was in disbelief for no more then a short time, then again, could he really be? His sister he knew, had been spending a lot of time with the white male he knew nothing about. And he wasn't sure what bothered him more...the fact she lied to him claiming the guy to be just a friend and leaving without saying a word. Or the fact she had gone behind their backs to be with a male who was apparently neglecting his duties...and dragging her with him. His fur bristled at the thought, how dare that man drag her down! She had been so good before, so...independent. He understood that what happened with her first child would send her spiraling into a mix of emotions, leaving her weak and vulnerable. But to Jinxx, with the little bit he knew and the ton he didn't know, he had to step in. To be protective, and keep him from dragging his sister into a life of trouble when she deserved more. It angered him, strange for one who never angered easily. But when it involved Family, it was an entirely different story.

It was incredibly hard tracking her down; almost as if they didn't want to be found. As if hiding, like they knew they did wrong. But finally, he would find himself upon an island, the fourth one he had checked now, and he knew this was it. Her scent was all over the place, and he would not hesitate in following tracks midway up the shore before he called for her. He wanted an explanation, he wanted to know why she lied to him. Was he not worth trusting? Had he done such a bad job as a brother she felt the need to keep everything a secret? Well no more.

She would lay in the den with her two little ones, their innocent forms clinging to her as they nursed. They were beautiful, perfect, and most of all they were healthy. They were alive, and they were all hers. She and Alpine had created something beautiful together. Her features would lean forward, her salmon tongue sneaking out as she groomed them both briefly. A perfect smile would dance upon her features as she settled back, finding herself able to relax. Slate backed ears would perk up though, a sound she had been craving to hear would summon her to the beach.
It should have been rather easy for Valhallans to find their way to her island paradise, Silver island was right off the coast of Vericona plains. She would smile excitedly, knowing now that Jinxx had recovered from the illness. Was it all gone? Was everyone alright? Her movements would disturb her little ones, they would complain slightly though would become soothed as she nuzzled them back to sleep. With excitement visible in her steps she would hurry to Jinxx's side.
Tears would begin to fill her eyes as she approached, a relief would overcome her as she continued. He was okay. She would rush to him, her tail wagging wildly as she moved to kiss his muzzle. "Jinxx! Jinxx you're alright!" she would whine happily, "I've got so much to tell you!"

"Pray"

The wind would tug at the creme teen's fur, many scents flowing around him and one in particular would focus his attention. Clear blue eyes scanning for her familiar form. It was almost immediately she would appear, her voice ringing in his ears as she called his name. She approached him, kissing his muzzle and nuzzling him. He could not deny that he missed her as well, but there was something underlying this that he was more interested in. Whether good or bad or both, he was unsure...but something told him there was something up here, and her scent was quite different. It gave off a scent of fresh milk, of warmth, and a few other scents beneath that. He immediately grew reserved, curiosity barely hidden as he strove to keep it hidden. Oceanic blue eyes pushing to appear more kind as opposed to detached and reserved. He didn't want to press more things onto her plate...but he couldn't understand why she simply just left without telling him anything, with a stranger to the family no less.

"Yes, I'm alright..." He would murmur, saying no more. She appeared to be very worried, but during his sickness he had not seen hide nor hair of her. He was curious then as to what she had to tell him, and so it was with hidden reluctance and hesitance that he would nose her back and give a single lick upon her brow. Taking a slight step back, tail waving lightly behind him in uncertainty. "What's going on?" He would ask her, though perhaps his voice would appear a little harder then intended.

Twig

He had to notice the change in her physique, the subtle change in her scent as well as her pup's lingering aromas on her pelt. Her still swollen teats were visible beneath her coat, but above all else there was a smile on her face. She was a changed wolf from the last time they'd really spoken. She could feel the coldness that would puff off of his coat, the hardened physique as she embraced him. This wasn't really how she wished their reunion to go. "Yes, I'm alright..." He wouldn't explain he he did give in and offer her much needed affections back. Though, business would be in order as he stepped back, words a bit harder than she was used to coming from him. "What's going on?" her smile would only widen as she thought of all that had happened.
She had to have figured, slightly, that the rest of her family would be upset with her and Alpine suddenly disappearing. She had to admit they should have told someone before leaving, but having found a place so close to Valhalla, she didn't think it would cause too much commotion. She'd told Angel that she and Alpine had become mates, she could only assume the information had not traveled its way around. "After Themisto died I sort of went crazy. I was blinded by my emotions and when I went into heat... I ran away Jinxx." Her voice was quiet, "I ran away from you, dad, Angel, Alpine, Themisto.. I tried to run from my pain, when I couldn't run anymore I collapsed. Alpine found me." Her features were turned away from him slightly her vibrant lavender stare distant as memories of that night would flood her mind. "I'd fallen in love with him. I realized as I took care of Themisto those last few weeks. When he saved me, he asked me to be his wife."
Big news one of two delivered, "You have a niece and a Nephew now, Jinxx." The clarity of joy was unmistakable in her voice. She would find her gaze back on her brother's stare, an innocent smile playing on her features as she delivered big news number two.

"Pray"

He would watch and wait for her to speak. His mind unsure about what to think. All he could think about was her leaving, eloping with a man he knew nothing about. Sure, all he knew was that this Alpine was her friend...but it would seem, he had become something more. His eyes narrowed slightly as she began her story. She explained to him, and all he could think was that perhaps she was stupid. Then again, if he had been that overwhelmed...he would have run too, or maybe even just ended it. Then, the news of Alpine would hit. Of course, how could he be so blind? The last time she had talked about him, she had claimed him as no more then a friend. He was glad that she was happy, but why the hell did she have to do it the way she did? It unsettled him, for she seemed to have been more selfish then perhaps she initially thought. As he lied dying, bleeding from the eyes and being tortured by a ghost that followed him even now, she had been lying beneath the stars with another man. His teeth would grit, though he would keep in everything that ravaged him.

Finally, eyes would close. Snapping back open only when she mentioned him having a niece and a nephew. He would stare at her, shocked by the news. And it would be this moment he'd remain silent, unsure of what to say. She had children? His heart pounded, knowing quite well who the father was. And yet, he still didn't know what to think. He was happy for her, that she had found something that made her happy...but in the process, he could see that he lost the sister he once knew. The one who was so independent, the one who kept love in the farthest corners of her mind. The one who had never even considered kids before, and yet here she was. Dependent on another, in love, and with children. He lost her. That much he knew, though he would not say as such. And he knew she would only deny it. "I see..." It was all he could manage to say, eyes staring at his paws for a few moments. "Congratulations. Mother would be proud." His tone was neither saddened nor excited, but neutral in between. Indeed, the news was quite a surprise. But the weight he felt upon him was even greater, and he wondered perhaps if it was a good idea to even be here. He knew Alpine would be nearby, and he was unsure what he would do if the male were to show. Smile and act friendly? Or break and leap at him? There were so many possibilities, and another thing that piled onto his shoulders. Why was he so weak? Why did he remain so miserable? Whom he considered his closest sibling, was no close to another man. He had lost her.

She would watch as he would listen, and she almost felt as though he would grow icy with every word she allowed him. As she finished her first story, his eyes would close. Before she could worry anymore though she would tell him of the children that she and Alpine had created. His eyes would flash open, and for the longest moment he would just stare. She would feel her smile fall as the cold would turn into an ice storm. She didn't know what she had done, but it was completely obvious that he did not share in her joy.
Everything she had done, she did for her pups. The only regret she would hold was that she had told no one that she and her husband were retreating to the island. She didn't know how the disease spread she only knew that while the plague was happening her pups were in danger. "I see..." he would finally say, his voice too cold for her brother. "Congratulations. Mother would be proud." He acted like he didn't know what to do, like her bringing these precious lives into the world was not worth celebrating. Had the disease changed her brother from the incredibly kind and happy wolf he once was? "She would be, you're right. So why aren't you?" There was a hurt in her voice now, he had to understand what she did and why she did it. If he wanted an apology for her leaving with out a word, she would admit her fault. She did not regret any other action she made. Children and marriage should have brought the Black family together, but it seemed it was only driving them apart.

He would be unable to stare at her upon her questioning. Blue gaze staring at his paws as his heart pounded. Why wasn't he happy about it? Could it be that he was jealous? That she was independent, or rather, used to be. And yet she had found someone and even started a life of sorts? And he, the needy one and still alone. It made his heart ache, but he would not show it anymore. Or perhaps the sickness had changed his mentality for good. He could still feel the cold touch of the being that seemed to grip him, latched onto him from another realm. He knew others could not see it, and doubted they could feel what he did. But it was this that made his change. Since the epidemic, he had become something else.

"I...am happy for you. I just...can't seem to show it, right now...I'm sorry." He glanced up at her, eyes swimming with things unsaid. He moved forward, nosing her cheek as if to emphasize his apology. His heart pounded, shoulders kept from shuddering as he began to mentally beat himself for appearing so uncaring towards his sister. They were family, he loved them all no matter the choices they made. As long as it made them happy...now, if they were doing what Lunatik had done, that was a different matter. Glancing up at her once more, he would speak again. "Can...Can I see them?"
