Temper temper

He was not a fan of the bat cave, the sounds of the bats moving along the cave ceiling unnerved him. His dislike of the cave forced him to explore his new 'home', the island was different than what he was used to but he could see that the plants were not used to such temperatures. The volcano erupting had caused temperatures to plummet as ash and cloud hung in the sky above them blocking out the sun on most days. The poor plants were shrivelling and droopy, some already completely dead.
Spirit slowly made his way to the beach, sighing heavily as he plopped down, ears folding back as he glared at the volcano that had essentially 'ruined' his real home.

Desolate was miserable, this place sucked. He missed the rapids and the thicket, the bunnies and birds and the warm sun. Now the volcano had overcast what seemed to be the entire world and set dangerous fire and toxicity to everything the pup knew and loved. He'd been carried to the island by someone he barely knew and immediately being set upon the grasses he'd decided that he hated everything about it. Uncle Rhyme was gone and now the only people left in Abaven who Desolate knew was his mother and siblings. Life was boring and dull and there wasn't enough to do on the island. To add to his annoyance, the oversized pack that previously was scattered among three separate territories was now huddled onto one patch of land surrounded by ocean too treacherous for Desolate to venture out into. With the added stress, the puppies bipolar disorder was beginning to show it's ugly face. He stomped around the land kicking over piles of dirt and ferns, snarling at birds and throwing the biggest tantrum he'd ever experienced. His anger-fueled travels brought him to the beach where he could look out over the ocean towards home. It was quickly becoming his favorite place, and he hoped upon arrival that he might feel some of his hatred wash away. To his frustration, his spot was taken. Spirit lay upon the beach looking out over the water and Desolate glared at the back of his skull. He walked up to him with determined strides and aimed to kick the pup in his butt with his front paw. "This is my spot." He insisted angrily. "Get lost!" "Speech"

There was tension everywhere he went, but here….here it was peaceful. There were no adults stewing or troubled, his siblings weren’t around to pick on him or to add to his nervousness. Aside from the doom and gloom across the water, the island was pretty nice…well…except the bat cave. He hated the bat cave. Spirit was content to lay and stare at the doom and gloom, wondering how long it would be until they could go back home. That is…until his brother rudely stomped onto the beach and kicked him in the butt! The sudden touch startled him out of his daydream with a yelp and lurch forward. Paws splashed into the freezing cold water as he stumbled and then finally turned to stare at his brother in shock. The angry words should have frightened him, but with everything so tense, Spirit’s ears fell back tight to his skull, fur bristling. "“Theres a whole beach! Find your own spot!” He yelled back, intent on defending his spot…if for no other reason than he was tired of Desolate picking on him.
A low growl rumbled in his throat, working himself up to actually doing something. Fortunately, it didn’t take long, as he recalled the times that Desolate had scared him or teased him. His growl quickly turned to a puppy snarl as lips pulled back and his head lowered, making it even with his shoulders. One last huff and he charged forward, paws digging into the sand for grip as he angled his head so that his forehead was aligned to collide with some part of Desolate. There wasn’t a lot of room between them, but he hoped it was enough to give him the momentum to at least knock his brother off balance…preferably to knock him on his butt!

Desolate's fur fluffed up further as his brother shouted back. Where was the meek cowardly pup he could pick on to get his frustration out? The response both surprised and infuriated him, and his anger grew further as Spirit made a move to shove him. He tried to dodge the headbutt but his small paws were not quite agile enough to complete the movement his mind visualized. He skittered in the sand and Spirit's head was getting closer and closer. The traction wasn't nearly good enough and Desolate had to think fast. He knew Spirit was going to hit him head on, and so he angled his body so that when the hit did come that the pup's forehead might hit upon his shoulderblade instead of any soft flesh. If Desolate was going to be knocked onto his butt, then Spirit would get a splitting headache in retaliation. At the same time he moved his body to block the blow, he turned his head so that he could nip his sharp puppy teeth towards Spirit's incoming ear. Perhaps it was comical to others to watch the little battle ensue. Spirit had seen the complete shock that he hadn’t tucked tail and run, Spirit was shocked himself, but he had had enough. Between the bats, his brother, and well…pretty much everything else going on, he couldn’t take being pushed anymore…at least not for the day. Thus lead to the explosion of anger and violence from the boy. Spirit hadn’t thought his attack through, typical of a child, his charge was hindered by the sand. Instead of running on top of the ground like he normally would, his paws sank into the sand making it harder for him to gain speed and keep the momentum. With his head tipped the way it was, he couldn’t see the hilarious scramble of Desolate trying to get out of the way- or the fact that he had managed to turn his body enough so that when Spirit collided with him he would his the shoulder blade instead of something…well…softer.
When he finally made impact, Spirit immediately regretted the attack. Pain shot through his head, neck and spine causing him to yelp loudly. The pain was more than enough to make him reconsider fighting his brother, but unfortunately, Desolate had picked that exact moment to turn his head and sink puppy teeth into his ear! Another cry of pain came from Spirit as his weight rocked backward, a knee jerk reaction to try and get away. Spirit didn’t want to fight anymore, but he couldn’t stop himself from kicking his front paws out in an attempt to bruise some part of Desolate while using that same assault to try and put distance between them. He was done, his puffed up posture was gone, his teeth were still bared but more so in defense. His tail was no longer rigid behind him, but tucked between his legs- where it normally was.

Deslolate couldn't help the smirk that came over him as Spirit's head collided with his shoulder, a pained expression coming over the pup's features. His bite landed too, and he felt his brother's posturing change as the fight left him. Just like Desolate expected - he was a coward. The other boy's weight rocked backwards and Desolate couldn't keep his grip, he snapped back to try to land his jaws once more upon Spirit when flailing paws smacked him in the face and he reeled, dazed. His tiny teeth bared as his brother once more, drinking in his fear and feeling powerful for the first time. He needed to teach his brother a lesson, and so instead of backing off and allowing Spirit to flee he moved forward again. This time his jaws aimed to catch the pup in the face, to grasp the other's muzzle and hold it shut until he submitted and proclaimed Desolate the winner.
