where there's smoke

Chaos burst into the range as the wildfire raged behind him, skidding to a halt and spinning to stare back at it. Hopefully he'd been able to warn anyone who'd been there before they'd been caught up in it - a brief pang clawed at him at the knowledge that anyone he hadn't found was beyond saving at this point. Everyone he'd seen there he'd warned to escape to the orchard, to make their way to the river border to meet up with everyone there. Now he had to make sure his own family made it there. His father, his kids, his young siblings. Calling out to the pack members still in the range in a howl that was hoarse with smoke, he turned again and made his way towards the tractor his father had claimed long ago. His howl warned the pack of the impending danger, imparting the same message he had called out in the knolls, but his gaze still scanned the range for any pack member in distress. He needed to get his father and the pups out, but he wasn't about to abandon anyone who needed rescue.
