It had been easy work to drag the tiny wolf out of Redwater Rocks, and towards Travelers lake. This was the second land he was using as a temporary base until his chosen land was available. He made sure he was well far from the source of water, and then he had spent time digging a deep hole well the man had been unconscious. He dug until he hit hard rock beneath the earth, clearing out the last of the dirt until nothing but hard rock lay beneath him. He then found an easy, but sturdy notch to loop his chain around, pulling it taunt before going back for the body.

He dragged Balsam into the pit, and locked it securely around his neck. He tested every part of the chain and rock with his own bodyweight, before he stood back, certain the smaller wolf would not be able to dig free. He then made his way out of the hole, and spent time smoothing the edges until it was a treacherous, difficult climb out of the hole.

He would then help Balsam wake up, with exactly the method he had promise. The sound of gently falling liquid would fill the silence.

Balsam woke up with a snort and a gasp. He quickly got to his paws and shook out his coat. The air was heavy with the familiar stink of urine. So he'd made good on his threat, eh? That was fine. He would persevere and someday he would get his revenge. Balsam would have this bastard's tail. It would hang like a trophy around his neck.

After a beat he glared balefully up at Sirius, his chin raised in defiance and his thoughts set firmly on a Sirius-tail bangle. No doubt Sirius would take pleasure from a more expressive reaction so Balsam refused to give him one. If he could have he'd have flipped the beast a double bird. That wasn't an option so he simply stared; his gaze an unblinking challenge.
