Will The Stars Ever Shine Again

With the eruption in the winter, Geoff missing, and Aurielle’s mother dying, Cai was doing his best to train hard. He knew it helped his mentor to train him. Everyone grieved differently, but he sensed that his leader was having a hard time letting herself grieve. She tried so hard to be strong for the rest of the pack that it seemed she forgot that she was important too.

Today was one of the rare days that he ventured beyond the wall. Fully grown, he moved with the economy of a warrior. He knew he had much to learn, and at the end of every session, he vowed to better himself even further. He was never fully satisfied with his own performance, and he always strove to improve.

He paused, lowering his head to study the tracks of some small creature that had wandered through the area—a hare. He was officially aa Nerve of Valhalla, and he fully intended to train and climb the ranks. His goal was to gain the rank of Sentinel, and that meant training. Not only in fighting, but in so many other things, like leadership, and countless other skills that a beta would need.

It would take time, but he hoped to make Dauntless by four, at least.
