The Ooze ParticipantThe Ooze - Variation 3Critical Fail!Valentines 2020

Aurielle Adravendi

She’d slipped away in the night from the festivities, following no particular pull or path, until a gleam of light sent her startling back, eyes dropping to the ground beneath her paws as her hackles bristled. The ground as no longer solid earth, but solid ice, and an ethereal sapphire glow faded from sight as she watched, right where her paw had been.

The sky above as clear, with a half moon shining coldly. It was midnight, and as she stepped forward again, more cautiously, light again bloomed beneath her paws. As she went, she grew more confident that the lake she walked upon was solidly frozen.

A gust sent her mane and tail flying, and briefly, she tipped her muzzle into the biting breeze. She supposed she could see why many wolves preferred the north. Even with the Volcano’s eruption, the north had kept a grip on the beauty it had. Wild and frigid and utterly unforgiving.

She strode forward with her usual grace and elegance. For once, she felt some semblance of peace. It wouldn’t last long. Windows of solitude. But the storm within never quite settled. But for the time being, she was alone, a ghost of shimmering white leaving a trail of glowing blue in her wake.

At first glance, Aurielle's coat is pure white.. Her fur has an iridescent quality (like moonstones) where the fur shimmers different colors under various angles of light: in this case, the colors shown by rainbow moonstones. Not one hair on her hide is a solid unnatural color, but, ya know, it's really hard to convey that in still art :P
Aurielle's English is heavily laden with an Irish, Swedish mixed accent.
Her family is allowed to crash all her threads, Private and Open.
As of Autumn Year 14, Aurielle glows with a bright blue-white bio-luminescence in her fur, and bears a marking over her left eye - see profile and reference.

Souzan had allowed himself to drift away from the pack, he wasn't even sure he was considered a part of them anymore. He'd struggled really, he'd wanted to move on from losing his brother but it had clung to him and he hadn't made any lasting connections in the pack. So it hadn't felt particularly painful to become a hermit. He was more than capable of handling himself, and he'd been lucky to be far enough north that the volcano hadn't affected them too bad. His thick northern coat more than a help here.

The man moved along the ice carefully, no longer as mystified by the soft gentle glow beneath his paws. No his attention was mostly pulled skyward. The stars had drawn him in recently. Some part of him assuming every single one of my siblings were up there, gone from this world and this life. He hadn't seen a single sign any of them were alive in nearly a full year. Ig and Sephi could have gone off on an adventure but that they'd do so without so much as consider telling him, inviting him? Well, he wasn't sure if that hurt more than the possibility they could be dead.

A slow cool breeze brought the ice giant a scent, feminine. Mismatched eyes swung in the direction of the ghostly apparition. For a moment Sou felt his heart starting to pound. The man picked up his pace, feeling fear and relief flashing through him. From the distance, he was at the spectral form could have easily been the phantom of his sisters. Yeah sure the scent wasn't even remotely close but the poor tired, lonely brain of the man was simply choosing to ignore all the signs that this couldn't be the spirit of his sisters. But of course, that reality would come crashing in, sooner than he would have liked. He was still a safe distance away from the woman, though undoubtedly she'd have seen his charge towards her when he realized what he was looking at.

Souzan slammed on the breaks as hard as he could, the momentary free grin that had spread across his face dropped, painting disappointment across his muzzle. He suddenly found himself avoiding the woman's eyes, embarrassment and grief visibly washing over his form, as he hunched his shoulders against the sudden cold that seeped into his bones.

A patter of paws against ice, and flashes of light turned her head, eyes opening to focus on the figure loping toward her through the wind-driven snow. His face was a rictus of emotions for a brief moment before he seemed to come to his senses and skidded to a stop a short distance from her.

She watched his frame hunch, noting the way his eyes refused to meet her gaze, and the mixed emotions on his face that had only moments ago held a smile of relief and… perhaps… hope. He’d thought she was someone else, apparently.

However, she recognized him from the day Acere challenged for Ignatius’s pack… and won without a fight. She took in his appearance briefly, wondering if he’d seen his former leader since the challenge—if Ignatius was alright. Finally, she strode toward him, paws blooming with light with each step until she stood a few feet from him.

“You were at the challenge for Ignatius’s pack. Are you alright?”

Her eyes were direct, but as gentle as her voice. Compassion came as naturally to her as her fighting spirit, and despite her own turmoil, she was willing to offer some small comfort for a stranger who seemed to be struck low by his own troubles just now.

Souzan's ear flicked as the woman spoke, his eyes flicking to his paws as he spotted her moving. Sou remained silent as he often did, he closed his eyes tight for a moment, then he gave a shrug. The move was easy, almost weightless but there was a pain in his face, a sort of avoidance in the way he held himself. He was obviously struggling to keep himself together but his emotions were threatening to bubble over, the open book that was the ice giant open for this celestial woman to read.

There was something about the tone of her voice that encouraged him to lift his gaze, his wide, open, sad gaze. He met her searching blue eyes with his own unmatched eyes. This close now he would have normally been struck agape by the woman's beauty, her amazing simplicity. He had seen white wolves before, even among his kingdom it wasn't an uncommon color, and his short time in Winterfell meant he was now used to the more muted looks of the locals to this continent but there was something about the gentle shimmer to the woman's pelt, the way her tail was draped in a long banner, a mane of fur similarly found flowing from her head... and somewhere deep inside him Souzan did feel that awe, but it was muted as if coming to him from the depths of the ocean under his paws, the feeling blocked by the layer of ice covering it. So instead the woman was given a full face of the deep hurt and melancholy he was struggling through.

She was given only the faintest shrug for an answer. However, he evoked such visible loss that she nodded slightly. She turned away from him, into the wind, as if she were leaving him there, but a simple tilt of her head invited the man to walk with her. It was an offer of silent companionship. She wouldn’t press the man to divulge any words. Rather, she would let him walk until words came, or they didn’t.

Light bloomed with each steady step of her paws, and her eyes studied the phenomenon, though one ear tipped toward the large male through windborne locks of mane, buffeted and lifted off her head and scruff. It was a biting kind of wind that threatened to drag cold claws deep into her fur to the skin.

There was something in the way she moved, something about the way she reacted to him that told Souzan there was understanding there and as she gently inclined her head he slowly followed after her, Souzan picked up his pace to pull up beside her than matched her stride, walking in tandem with the ethereal woman. Some part of him felt he may not have been totally off the mark originally. The woman was not his sister, but she may still have been a ghost. A spirit come to take him across the glowing ice bridge that crossed over into the spirit realm.

Still, as he watched her he couldn't help but feel there was some pain in her as well, and despite himself, he felt compelled to at least give the woman a proper response to her earlier question. "I haven't seen Ig or any of my family in such a long time." It was soft, his voice a low rumbling thing that he felt would be snatched away bu the wind the moment it left his lips.

It took a long stroll before the man opened up, just a little. The wind fought to take the words, but she caught them nevertheless. A sigh brushed free from her jaws as she glanced aside to the male, answering softly, “I wish I could say otherwise… But I haven’t seen Ignatius since my last visit to his border to speak of alliance things, and a possible event I wanted to invite him and his pack to. He seemed well, but perhaps there was something wrong…”

Though soft, she knew the wind would take her voice to the man’s ears. Her strides carried on evenly, a flare of light blooming beneath each paw as she continued on, letting silence lapse, letting him carry the conversation if he wished, or fall into his own silence.

Her own troubles were never far from the surface. Mother dead, Aramis missing. Laisren missing. Tornach grievously injured… There were still so many things that fought against the bright future for her pack and family.
