Aerndis

Tyrian was ambling about the territory with no real goal in mind. It was just one of those days. He'd completed his chores, done his time at the border, eaten a meal and now there wasn't much else to do. He could work on a project of some sort but he just wasn't feeling it. It felt like a good day to be lazy. He didn't get many of those. Most of the time he wanted to be busy. He wasn't fond of sitting still. Today, apparently, was just an exception to the rule.
In the distance he spied a bright blob of color. After a beat he realized what he was looking at. It was that woman from the meeting. He hadn't really had a chance to speak to her yet and thought it was time to change that so Tyrian immediately changed course to intercept her. "Hello," he called as he trotted forward. "Beautify day, isn't it?"

Aerndis worked at dragging the deer back into Legion's territory. The last thing she needed was every scavenger and predator in a 50 mile radius on her case while she tried to skin her catch. Though she couldn't say they wouldn't wander into Legion territory regardless. Bears had little respect for wolf borders and while coyotes were wary since Legion had been absent the wretches might not have realized that the territory was once again occupied.
She set the deer down and looked up as Tyrian approached, the new leader of Legion. She grinned. "It is! A perfect day for hunting and skinning. Are you out on patrol?" Her fangs seized around the deers throat, teeth working to make a sizeable wound. Griff, her eagle then landed and while she pulled at the skin he began to snip. The blood poured out onto the ground. She hoped Tyrian didn't mind her working and listening at the same time for the longer she took to work the more likely she was to attract unwanted attention.

Oh she was busy, wasn't she? Well hell he hadn't meant to interrupt her. If she was annoyed she didn't say anything to that effect so Tyrian took that as a sign he could get comfortable. He trotted over to where she was setting up her work station but hung back a bit so he wasn't outright invading her space. "Nah, just got done with it, actually. Saw you and decided to say hello since I didn't really get a chance to speak to you at the meeting." Everything had happened much too quickly. There had been packing to do and whatnot, and even though he had wanted to talk to her, the chance had evaded him. "So let me formally introduce myself. I'm Tyrian and I am your...uncle," he finished with a grin.
The expression disappeared in a flash as he caught sight of a large dark shape following Aerndis' blood trail. In a low voice he said, "It looks like we have company." Company indeed. For a moment the shape disappeared at the bottom of a hill but as it began to make its way up the hill details began to form. It was a bear.
Tyrian rolled his eyes and sighed. "Bears have no respect. I bet this is the one that's been stalking my sheep." That woolly bastard was important and for it...ugh he was going to have to do battle with a bear. "He can't stay here," he said as he began to stalk towards the bear. "Might wanna put a bit of speed on that skinning," he shouted over his shoulder at Aerndis.

Aerndis finished her cutting along the underside of the deer and moved on to snipping flesh around the legs. Once she got that done she'd be able to start pulling the flesh off the deers body with the help of her companion. She'd often considered getting one with opposable thumbs but she had yet to run into anyone she'd be able to entice into her services.
She looked up, an expression of confusion. "My uncle? Oh, sorry! I'm Aerndis, and I'm just trying to get a grasp on our relationship. Are you one of Seraphim's kids?" The conversation was cut short as she caught Tyrian's change in expression. She looked behind her and swore. "Great, just the kind of company I didn't want. Can you get started? I just need to finish a few more cuts then Rudy can take it from here and I can help."

Though there was a great deal of distance between himself and the bear still, Tyrian planted himself in a place that unmistakably in his way. He lowered his head and fixed with an unblinking stare. There was no mistaking his intentions, he just wanted to give it a chance to reconsider what it was doing. There were two wolves and an assortment of other critters up here waiting for it. If it had any sense it would leave. As he waited he threw a casual reply to Aerndis over his shoulder. "Nah, Valentine's my dad. Seraphim's my older brother." He never met him, just heard about him. He was one of those mythical relatives Tyrian had heard about growing up.
"Yeah don't worry about it," he said casually to Aerndis as the bear picked up speed. "I can handle this guy; I eat bears for breakfast." Tyrian had just enough time to sneak a sly smirk his niece's way before the bear was too close for comfort. He ran at it with a roar and set about menacing it. Perhaps today would be the day he got to use his fangs for real against a predator. Because it was so easy for them to deal lethal blows he was usually careful to limit their use to slashing ans blocking.

She had no idea that Valentine had had another litter, or that he was even capable of still having children at her age. Wow, this was weird. That made Tyrian her great uncle! She'd have to ask about it as soon as they got rid of the bear, but then what really could she say? She did wonder who the mother was.
Tyrian seemed confident that he could handle the bear but even so Aerndis hurried. She worked her jaws harshly over the hind legs as the front legs were already done. There! She seized old of the flesh at the neck and pulled so that Rudy could get his beak in and begin the task of peeling off flesh. It was definitely much easier with the two of them working together but she trusted the bird to get the job done and even if he didn't she'd help when she got back. They needed to ditch the bloody bear.

If he'd thought about it a little more Tyrian would have realized how weird Aerndis must have thought him for declaring himself her uncle. But it was true and he would swear up and down if he had to. As Valentine was his father and the father of Aerndis' father, that meant that Tyrian was brothers with Angelus and thus her uncle. Their family tree was a bit gnarled but Tyrian loved it. At the very least it made for an interesting yarn to unravel to the uninitiated.
Alright, scaring wasn't going to work. Time to tangle. Tyrian trotted towards the bear and at the last second put on a burst of speed that sent him down the bear's left side. As he went he raked his fangs down the bear's side. No sooner were his fangs clear did he veer off and run as if his life depended on it.

Rudy had a good grasp of the skinning and the bird worked swiftly as Aerndis turned around and dove after Tyrian, seeking to help him with the bear. She didn't really consider herself a fighter. She'd spent to much time on her own to be overly familiar with battle and she wasn't the sort to just go out of her way to pick fights. However, she knew about hunting and killing and hopefully that would be enough for her to be of some help without being in the way.
The bear had whipped around to take after Tyrian and Aerndis put on a burst of speed, her jaws flinging wide as she bite the bear painfully on the ass. It roared and whipped around but she was racing off to the left by the time it managed to turn.

Tyrian whirled around as soon as he heard the bear squall. Aerndis, it seemed, had finished her skinning. Damn that was fast! It was a good thing, too, because this was a lot of bear for one wolf to handle and none of his companions had yet make it over to them to engage. He raced back towards the bear and ran into its blind side. Time to put the fangs to use. Tyrian stabbed them into the bear's rib cage and raked downwards. Unsurprisingly they didn't go far, but it gave him an idea of what he was capable of.
He pulled free quickly as the bear turned to face him. Instead of running this time he lifted a paw and struck the bear across the face with his claws. The bear, not expecting this from a wolf, was startled back a step. Then and only then did Tyrian take off. He could only get so lucky. Best not tempt fate too much; it was a fickle thing.
With a burst of speed he aimed to put distance between himself and the enraged bear. Hopefully Aerndis was ready another attack...

Rudy continued working on the hide, pulling until he had it off the left side of the deer. "Aerndis, you need to flip the deer over!"
Aerndis whipped around and dove in for one more glancing blow as she snagged her fangs along the bear's left thigh and she sprinted back towards the kill. Hopefully she'd been able to help a little bit but she was kicking herself for forgetting about the deer needing to be flipped. Of course Rudy could do that part himself! Tyrian seemed to be doing really well though, she was impressed! He didn't seemed to need her assistance and she felt certain he'd get rid of the bear.
Panting she arrived at the carcass, seized it in her jaws and with a heave flipped it over onto the other side. She then took hold of the flesh as Rudy worked, snipping along. This way was so much faster and in what felt like no time at all they had the hide pulled free. "We have the hide, how are you doing?" She was more than ready to jump back in if needed.

It seemed the bear was quickly realizing this wasn't going to get an easy meal here today. ”That's right, buddy,” he growled at it lowly as it seemed to hesitate. It lowered its head, its bottom lip quivering. The dumb bastard was the picture of indecision. ”Best you mosey along 'cause the only thing you're gonna get here is light-headed from blood loss.”
Ah, and there he went. Tyrian watched with a satisfied smirk as the bear turned and ran. Black bears were such pansies. Not that he was complaining. If the flabby beast had any balls at all both Tyrian and Aerndis would be in heap of trouble.
His tongue lolled out of his mouth as he rolled his head around to look at Aerndis. He grinned at her and yelled back, ”The squiggly bastard's made a run for it!” Tyrian began to make his way over to her at a languid pace. ”Nice hustle, though. If there was a field dressing competition I have no doubt you'd take first place.”
