river otters

The big pup ventured out cautiously, everyday he’d venture out a ew steps further than the day before. As steadily as he was growing so was his world. Océan was relatively quiet but adventurous boy. He’d yet to truly discover the anger that lived within him. He was young, innocent, and yet to lose control. For now he was curious and inquisitive. He followed his dark nose, he’d find a trail not of wolf origin. It wasn’t cat, it wasn’t canine, and he’d never seen anything like it.
Before he knew it Océan was further than ever from the den. He followed the trail all the way to the river where it seemingly slipped into the depths. Dark ears perked forward curiously and half astounded that anything wanted to get into the frigid waters.

Days passes that she was getting a little more courageous with each day that passed. She wasn't as afraid of going outside now that she kept witnessing her brothers doing it and them coming back alive. Their mother tried with everything she could to reassure her she was safe...but Claire just couldn't shake the feeling that she'd end up like their father. She missed him terribly, but Avalon told her that his spirit would always be there to protect them. Did she believe it? Well, to some degree she did. That's why she came out today. And as she kept the den in sight while sniffing around her surroundings, she caught wind of her brothers trail heading away from the safety of the den, going further and further. She was almost afraid of following, but there was another scent she wasn't familiar with and of course,, curiosity got the better of her.
She followed the scents, neck craning as she sought to try and see her brother over the obstacles she encountered half hoping he would be there. But of course, the trails led her further from the den, and before she knew it, she was close to the river. Pausing, she looked around for her sibling until she spotted him staring at the water. Curious, she approached him while also staring. "Ocean? Whatre you doing?" Her voice betrayed the curiosity she started to feel, of course. Though she couldn't figure out what exactly he was looking for.

Océan often secluded himself after his father’s death, though he hid the emotions that followed with exploring. He pushed through easier when his mind was on the trail than keeping to the den. He hadn’t talked much about how Feli’s loss made him feel, he’d garner too much attention and the emotions were difficult to handle. Avoidance was easier, so he pushed everything down. His attention on the creature that escaped him the pup hadn’t noticed his sister on his tail. Her voice was at his ear and she caught his attention as she questioned his actions.
”I was chasin’ sumthin.” He tilted his silver marked features and took a good look over the water again, and startled when the otter’s head popped up in the middle. ”That!” He called out suddenly, pointing with one disproportioned paw.
