Aerndis had been excited to get the chance to hunt with Éldi again. It was probably going to be the last time as she had decided to head to the West one more time to see if she could find her family. It was the most logical place she could go and with a belly full of food and a few pelts to take with her she was almost ready. The last thing was some meat to dry and make jerky so she'd have some sustenance in the desert. Éldi had agreed to help her so he could make some of his own. Apparently his pack was going to be moving and he needed some for the journey. So the pair decided to hunt together one more time for the benefit of each. They'd tracked some deer to south of the wall and now while they were out in the open it was time to strike. She glanced at Éldi.

Éldi trotted along, quietly moving next to Aerndis as the pair tracked a herd of deer. They were getting close, he could feel it. Since the brilliantly colored woman and he kept crossing paths he'd invited her on one more hunt before he rejoined Hjarrandi and she headed west to search for her missing family. He'd offer to go for some sort of reward but she didn't really have much to offer and he had been away from Hjarrandi's home base for longer than he probably should've been this trip. Though all said he hadn't slacked in his duties to keep everyone fed and that was the most important thing.
The duo came upon the herd. It was small and scraggly, apparently having come up from the southern territories, seeking greater plant life. There were only four deer but the buck seemed to be in poor shape. Mucus was dripping out its nose and it was breathing heavily. Aerndis glanced at him and he nodded. Time to go!

Éldi nodded and Aerndis grinned, heck yes! Her back paws twitched as she slunk forward, excitement vibrating through he bring. She got as close as she dared then sprang forward. The deer took off immediately, their tails flipping up, showing the white underside. She raced along after them as she and Éldi worked to herd them north toward the wall. A few of the does broke away but that was fine with her. She focused in on the sickly buck. He was quickly falling behind, coughing and spluttering. Aerndis attempted to pick up the pace. She was getting closer, so close she could almost taste it and yet the buck managed to stay just out of reach.

Aerndis was the first to attack. She leapt forward enthusiastically and Éldi was quick to follow suit. He was a bit slower than the woman but that was fine. Endurance also played a part in the hunt, particularly this one. As the deer were out in the open they had a good chance of running them down before their prey were able to find shelter and disappear into wooded or rocky areas. Two does broke away but both he and Aerndis stayed focus on the task at hand. He soon caught up to Aerndis but the buck was managing to stay just in front of them, until it stumbled.
Éldi immediately seized the opportunity, his fangs seizing old of the back of the deers right leg, just above the ankle. The buck came to shake halt, kicking violently to try and rid itself of the wolf.

The buck stumbled and Aerndis dove in as her partner bit onto the deer's leg. It bleated with fear, the noise strange and muffled. It was definitely dying of some respiratory illness so why not put it out of its misery. Aerndis seized the buck's left leg and pulled violently backward, with both it's hind legs failing to find stable footing the buck soon crashed onto its front half, flailing and kicking violently. Still, Aerndis held on. It had been decided earlier that Éldi would deliver the killing blow, she would hang on as long as she could in order to provide him that opportunity. And hold on she wold. She squeezed her eyes shut. She had better hold on. To lose her grip now could mean getting kicked in the face.

Éldi felt like his brain was being shaken around inside his head but he held on long enough for Aerndis to seize the other leg and then together they toppled the deer. There was no time to celebrate. The hunt was far from over and it was up to Éldi to end it. He raced toward the head of the deer. Rotating his head sharply he threw his jaws open and seized it around the throat. It flailed and kicked out at him but he held on firmly. It had already been struggling to breath, the added pressure from his jaws only compounded the problem. Soon the buck ceased to breathe and the pair of wolves earned themselves a hot meal.
