The Ooze ParticipantThe Ooze - Variation 3

Life was indeed seeking out it’s natural rhythms and cycles. Things weren’t perfect yet, but the forage had improved, and the stallion had come out of the tough winter and spring, and gone through summer in good health and spirits. Granted his was a solitary existence, with the occasional whiff of another of his kind, fleeting and gone, but he was contented for the time being.

The Dancefloor, as he’d heard it called, was a decent place for a horse to live. The land was flat, the grass not tall enough to hide a predator, and the water was sweet and clear-running. The other prey animals kept to their own, and he moved among them as a solitary star in a palette of browns and fawns and earthen tones.

On this day, he grazed peacefully, tail flicking amiably from haunch to haunch, fending off flies as his form meandered aimlessly, following the next green patch of grass. Occasionally his head rose, teal eyes scanning the lands and herds before he returned to his meal.

His companions had returned to him, and with them came his armor, dragged faithfully. At the moment, they were scouting the surrounding lands, furthering his self-claimed quest to seek out the wolves that his mother had spent some years with. He didn’t expect either of them back for another day, but he wasn’t worried—they were savvy and knew how to survive and escape attack.

There was no set destination in store for the young female as she moved through the shorter grass. Her curled tail hung idly between her hind legs as she moved, amber eyes always scanning her surroundings as she went along. Clover hadn't anticipated that she would be without her siblings but in time they had all discovered that it would be in their best interest to go their separate ways. Each had their own plan, their own intentions, and Clover wanted to travel and see the world. This place was indeed foreign to her but she welcomed it with open arms. It was a change from the lands she had grown accustomed to and she always wanted to be evolving herself. Dainty paws carried her lithe frame across the terrain until she paused, eyes landing on the frame of an equine in the distance. There was still a good bit of space between them but Clover found she could not take her eyes from him. He was quite interesting to look at wasn't he? He was certainly the first of his kind that she had seen and for that reason alone she was intrigued. But Clover didn't approach nor did she speak, he couldn't possibly speak the same language as her could he? There was so much she was curious of but she was also wary, those hooves of his could be lethal and so she kept a safe distance between them.

The subtle brush of paws through the grass brought his head up from his breakfast, eyes pricked and eyes finding the source. He locked eyes with the wolf, watching for a few heartbeats as she kept her distance. It seemed most common for wolves to keep their distance. Other than Moon, his encounters, while few for the most part, seemed to follow this little dance.

Finally, he called out with an easy, smooth rumble. “Good morning, Lady. I hope it finds you well.”

Curiosity was a favored tendency with him—how could one learn if they asked no questions and never observed? True, ignorance could be blissful in the face of disaster and heartbreak, but one could learn from such things if they observed what caused them. Perhaps they could learn enough to divert the next disaster.

His body language remained neutral, even friendly, but he made no move to approach her, letting her decide whether to respond and approach, or go on her own way.
