open spar
Since the meeting Banshee was determined to take the Reaper rank. She never tasted competition before but the babe was ready to take the bull by the horns. Ban was aware of the warriors she was up against. Older and perhaps more experienced fighters. But, she knew she could hold her own. Banshee was keen on winning but she wouldn't let a loss bring her down. She figured in the path of her ambitions she would improve upon herself enough to make a loss worth it. Even if she didn't come out with a rank she'd come out with a better understanding of battle as well as pack duties. Banshee found herself moving through the plains with the Sun in the background. It was later afternoon and the sky was painted purple and orange. The tall fae marched through the grass with beaming blue eyes. As she slowed down in a proper clearing towards the barracks her tongue flicked around one of her massive fangs. With a flick of her tail she tossed her head into the air and let forth a howl. It was a beckon for a spar. Perhaps she'd fight one of her competitors.

Every since finding out about the Reaper competition and how badly Resin was hurt, her time had fallen into a bit of a routine. She would visit Resin in the morning for a while before going out and doing a bit of a patrol to warm up her muscles before she went down to the barracks and the practice areas there to train. She kept hoping perhaps she would find someone else there to train with, but sometimes she just worked by herself. Either way, she felt like she was strengthening her muscles and getting more comfortable with the movements required in fighting. The more she practiced the less hesitation she would have the next time she was able to spar. As she neared the barracks she heard a howl calling for a spar and a jolt of excitement went though her. This was perfect! A grin crossed her lips and she hurried down toward the barracks to see who had called for a challenger. When she arrived she spotted one of the wolves that had been at the little meeting Sirius had held for the Reaper competitors. If she remembered correctly her name was Banshee, but she didn't have the best memory when it came to names. Either way, she was excited to put herself to the test next to one of the other challengers. Banshee was a good bit taller than her and had fangs similar to Sirius' so perhaps her spar with the Warlord would give her a bit of insight on how to approach this fight. She grinned at the younger woman as she began to settle into the widened, defensive stance that she had been working on tirelessly since she trained with Sirius. "A little Reaper competition spar, eh? Feel free to take the first swing!" |
It didn't take long for an opponent to show face. An inky female moved into the clearing. Banshee recalled the fae from the meeting and seeing her in passing every now and again. But, the babe couldn't recall a name. Perhaps after their fight an introduction could be made. But, it was clear by the defensive stance and Tam's words that the fight need not be prolonged. Thus, Banshee offered a quick nod. "Good luck." With that the taller female settled her own defenses. Rather then hunkering down Banshee would maintain a stance for balance and movement. With the first swing meant she would have to close the distance. Therefore the Fatalis lowered herself gently with bent elbows and knees. She also flicked back her ears, curled her lips upward to further expose eager fangs, and aligned a luxurious tail with her spine. Banshee tilted her head down slightly to protect her throat with her muzzle and narrowed her eyes to protect them from any debris or sharp objects. - Banshee's flicked a glance to the Cobra that awaited within the brush to her right. Her Hawk companion also soared above. Both were ready to assist when needed. Banshee sprung into action with a sprint towards her opponent head on. The babe went with old tried and true; attempting to slam the lower middle region of her chest into her opponent's chest. Banshee hoped to cause bruising to Tamsyn as well as knock the air from her lungs. As she sought to close the distance between them Banshee would attempt to bite her opponent's scruff. A growl ripped from her throat as fangs aimed to sink into the right side of Tam's neck. All the while Banshee kept her weight distributed, ready for an assault from Tam.

While she waited anxiously for her opponent to make the first move, she made sure she was well set in her defenses with her widened stance, ears and tail tucked out of the way, and eyes narrowed. She kept her legs bent enough to give her some good mobility for when she would undoubtably need it. The fanged woman came at her like a shot and Tamsyn's muscles tensed, waiting for just the right moment. Right before the larger woman reached her, she darted out of the way with a quick leap to the side. Banshee's chest missed hers, but still clipped her shoulder and ended up staggering her just a bit. She dropped closer to the ground, nearly on her stomach as she righted herself and to keep herself from being knocked over, unintentionally dodging the worst of the attempted bite at her scruff. She felt those large fangs scrape her skin and leave a shallow wound in their wake, but she was at least able to avoid the grip the woman had tried to get on her. That sting of wounds and bruises didn't phase her as much as it had with her first spar with Sirius and that alone was enough to make her feel like she was making a good bit of progress. With a snarl she sprang back to her paws to keep herself from being able to be pinned to the ground. She knew she was a smaller wolf, so she tried to use it to her advantage and did her best to minimize how it could be used against her. She reached for Banshee's front, right leg near her elbow, attempting to grab ahold of the limb so she could pull at and hopefully get the woman off balance. She wasn't nearly as shy as she had been in her first spar about letting her teeth break the skin, especially since Banshee had already drawn first blood. She'd give a quick hop backwards as well, either to put a bit of distance between her and the larger woman or to add some extra momentum to the tug she was attempting on her leg if she had been successful in getting a firm grasp on the limb. The nimble Tamsyn quickly leapt to the side to avoid most of the intended impact. Banshee felt her shoulder clip the other's shoulder. There was a twinge of pain and it was clear that bruising from the impact would bother her for a few days after that. But, it was just a welcomed outcome of any spar. With practice came pain. Due to her opponent's movement Banshee was only able to graze a fang against Tamsyn's scruff. Some blood was drawn but it was much less then she had hoped for. Banshee wouldn't have sought a true grip but enough to try and get the upper paw. She was aware of how severe a bite with her elongated fangs could be and she wasn't keen on causing any lasting damage in a spar against a pack mate. Strangers were a whole different situation though. Banshee dug her paws into the earth to slow her charge to a halt. As she did this the smaller inky fae was in the midst of an attack. Banshee felt teeth against her own front right leg and then a tug. A growl ripped from her throat as her own blood was drawn. The young Fatalis redistributed her weight to her three uninjured legs after pivoting to face her opponent head on. Banshee would then aim to kick off the ground with her hind legs to lurch at her opponent. Hopefully with the sudden movement Tam would be forced to let go of Ban's front leg, if not then she would endure the pain for the sake of potential victory. Banshee would attempt to use gravity as a tool in those moments. What goes up must go down. Banshee attempted to slam her uninjured front paw down on Tam's front right paw in hopes to pin the limb. She would also try to land an additional bite at her opponent's scruff; aiming just below Tam's right jaw joint. The bite was only possible if she had successfully managed to close the distance between them.

Tamsyn was happy to feel her teeth successfully grip onto Banshee's leg, but she didn't let her mind linger there for very long. She noticed the larger woman's form shift and begin to move to spring toward her and, remembering Zee's advice to make quick attacks and then get out of the way, Tamsyn attempted to do just that. Before Banshee could complete the sudden lurch forward, Tamsyn released the fighter's leg and attempted to hop back from her reach again. She hadn't wanted to really hurt Banshee anyway so at least this way she was able to release the limp and only leave a minor bite behind. Her dodge wasn't quite so successful this time around. Her hind paw got tripped up on a rock that made the ground underneath her a bit uneven and in the second that it took her to shift her stance to stabilize herself again, Banshee's paw connected with hers. She yelped as the woman's larger paw came down hard on hers and the smaller woman immediately shifted completely into defensive mode, less concerned about retaliating with her attacks. Like Zee had said, sometimes it's more important to evade than it is to retaliate when you're as small as they are. With her paw pinned under Banshee's there wasn't much she could do in the way of putting distance between them, so she settled ducking down to escape the worst of Banshee's sharp teeth. She turned her head away from the fanged woman's jaws so that if she did reach down to bite her she would only hit the loose skin of her scruff instead of the area near her jaw. In one last attempt to free herself, Tamsyn went for the ankle of the paw that was currently pinning hers, attempting to bite just hard enough that Banshee would hopefully pull the paw away so she could escape.
