He'd never before seen sand so dark. Then again, he hadn't been alive long enough to see many shores at all. Beaches and all things like it were a rarity on his journey. So rare, in fact, that he'd only seen two. This one was unlike the others; while the last two were fairly plain in both color and variety, not only did this one have dark sand, but there was also a mysterious cave at the west end of it. He'd probably explore that tomorrow; the sun was showing its first signs of setting. The once bright, creamy orange sky was turning more orange than cream, the faintest signs of red outlining the horizon.

The sand closest towards the waves glittered at certain angles. Thousands of tiny fragments of whats-its made the shore dazzle. He couldn't help but admire it... would this become a permanent love for beaches, or was this just a fleeting moment of euphoria from seeing something new?

I need a place like this in my backyard. But first he'd have to get a backyard.

Black and white paws melded with the obsidian sand as the beast sauntered onward. It wasn't clear what brought the new father out in that afternoon but he did enjoy the feeling of the ocean breeze through his alabaster pelt. A yawn left his stretching jaws and ended with a gentle shake of his head. Hannibal was primarily nocturnal due to his sensitivity to sunlight. The late afternoon became morning to him. It had been some time he ventured out of the den before then. Usually only for emergencies or to fetch something for the pups in they were needy.

The winter air brought forth a stranger's scent. The smell caused Hannibal to raise his head slightly. Pale eyes scanned the region before pinpointing the source. An earthy toned male in the distance. No pack scent clung to the stranger's fur, not one that he knew of at least. Hannibal had been bumping into a lot of rogues lately. Maybe they were coming out due to the seemingly now dormant volcano. The Klein wouldn't have wanted to visit Boreas with a freshly exploded volcano looming over if he were a loner.

Hannibal had half the mind to ignore the boy. But, his paws seemed to carry his hefty form towards him with little care. As the distance closed a bit he stopped at a polite distance away. Formerly neutral, Hannibal raised his head and eyed the stranger carefully. The male was confident but rarely cocky in these situations. He was aware he had an entire two packs that would come to his aid if anything foolish happened. But, he did not want that to need to happen. "You smell like fresh meat." Hannibal was statue-esque other then his moving jaws, "What brings a rogue so close to packlands?" The islands he called home were just across the water.

Hannibal has a tattered left ear. Most of his art does not display this.

The scent of a stranger made him instantly wary. Golden-orange-hued eyes scanned the surroundings, before easily coming across a male nearly as bright as snow. He'd never seen a pelt so light before, and wondered how on Earth such a man could survive any season that wasn't winter or autumn without help. His pack probably hates looking after him during warmer seasons, he thought. Assuming he even belonged to a pack.

'You smell like fresh meat.' The hell did that even mean? That he was new or something? 'What brings you so close to packlands?' “Am I not allowed to admire the view?” the sarcasm was strong and obvious in his tone. He never kept his eyes off the male, despite the respectable distance.

He couldn't admire the view now that he was busy watching the other guy, but it allowed him to take in more details. Another peculiar thing; he had eyes that were two different colors. Rayios had never in this short life seen that before. It was mildly interesting, but he'd still much rather admire the glistening sands below.
