While she was at the battlefield Mæva hoped to make the journey worthwhile by having more than one spar. As such she'd need to find another sparring opponent. The sun was rising and shining down but the air was still cold. Mæva chewed on some of her rabbit jerky. After breakfast and a quick nap she was ready for another fight.

Mæva walked with her caracal companion to a nice smooth field. Tipping back her head she howled for an opponent. Practice would make perfect and she was eager for another chance.

Pach trailed at her feet as the yearling made her way across the battlefield, tail waving confidently behind her. The howl had asked for a fight, and Mal was eager to give it to them. Whomever they were. She was itching to give another run to her battle aids, see how well the wolverine was coming along in their training. It was not long before she spotted the mahogany and white figure across the way. But as she neared, and caught scent and sight of the stranger, her brows lifted in surprise.

"Hey!" Mal loped up to the brat, pausing about a length or two away. "Aren't you a little young to be out here?" Her tone was not unlike an exasperated teen who just got dumped with babysitting duties. Her challenger wasn't even fully grown! Malalia wasn't sure what she'd expected, coming to these fields, but she certainly wasn't looking to encounter an opponent who was that much younger than herself. She'd soundly defeated a pair of pups already. Was it too much to ask for an experienced match? Or at least one that had lost all of their puppy fur....

"Speech"

Mæva rolled her shoulders forward and back, loosening up for the eventual battle to come. Her call was soon answered by a younger girl who bounded over to her with something in her voice that Mæva took for skepticism. "Nope!" She chirped. "I'm almost a yearling. I've been hunting with my band for a season now and I'm more than ready." She set her defenses and squared off against the older girl, her caracal companion stopping a few feet away from her. The stranger didn't need to know that she'd left the band with her father but if her previous encounters were any indication the pups in these lands seemed to be kept close in comparison to her more free-range upbringing.

"If you don't believe me go ahead and find out!"

Mal took a beat to look over the almost-yearling, and supposed she had a point there.... just because she wanted an older opponent, didn't mean the girl wasn't ready on her own. That didn't mean it was less of a drag... But, hey, Malalia would've had the same attitude a year ago. And training was still training, no matter who you faced. Maybe she'd learn something.

She smiled at the younger girl's determination, the hairs raising along her back. "You got it!" With a burst of speed, she ate up the dirt and ran straight for the girl. At the very last moment, Malalia would jerked to her left, aiming to slash her steel claws down Mæva's right side, and trip up her right hindleg to unbalance her. Instead of passing in a hit and run, she would slam her forepaws to the earth and pivot in an about face, lunging for the girl's hind legs. Meanwhile, the wolverine kit leaped upward, his claws aiming to latch onto the girl's face, chest, anything he could get a hold on to distract her from the front.

"Speech"

Mæva grinned happily as the older girl agreed to spar her. She'd have been expecting the other wolf to just leave in search of a more experienced opponent. Mæva would do her best to make the fight interesting. She quickly set her defenses, including pinning her ears and tucking her tail. She steadied herself and as the other girl sprang to her left Mæva sought to copy the motion though she underestimated the older girls speed as well as her weaponry. While she managed to avoid the full brunt of the attack the steel claws still cut her right side leaving two light lacerations across the right side of her ribs.

Mæva quickly twisted her body in, forming a 'c' as she yanked her hind legs out of reach of Malalia's jaws while at the same time opening hers as she tried to bite into Malalia's side. She sought to anchor her jaws in the tender crease where Malalia's right hind leg met her side. She didn't notice the wolverine heading toward her but Geira had. The caracal leapt toward the wolverine seeking to latch her jaws over the back of its neck and her claws seeking its sides.

Pachou squealed when the caracal landed on his back, but he tipped forward, hoping to slam the feline on its back. He would twist around, with the feline underneath him, and aim to score his claws down her belly.

Mæva would seem to pivot at the same time Malalia did, and made a lunge for her hindlegs. But Malalia was already rushing forward, and in the movement she aimed to slam her right shoulder into Mæva's chest -- instead of her hindleg, Mæva's bite would land along her upper foreleg or shoulder, should she choose to bite her still. Malalia would hunch her shoulders forward, protecting her neck, while she lifted up to wrap her forelegs around the she-wolf's torso, and sink her steel claws into her scruff.

The wolverine squealed and tipped forward and Geira let go as she was flung onto her back in front of the wolverine. She quickly pivoted on her side so that her claws were facing the smaller creature as she tried to counter his scratches with her own.

With the pair brought in close Mæva did not have time to change course, she set her defenses as best as possible before colliding into Malalia. The other woman's shoulder slammed into her chest, sending pain blossoming over her sternum and laying the ground for severe bruising. Mæva's fangs latched onto Malalia's upper foreleg and she swiftly moved to maintain that grip. As she did she felt the other woman's arms wrap around her, the steel claws digging painfully into her scruff.
