Questionable judgement

Snow had a way of making things look soft, cushiony, like he could swan dive off the top of a mountain and not break a single bone. Askan knew better of course, but in quieter moments he had to admit that he sometimes wondered what it would be like to just fall. The slopes he'd stumbled upon weren't even that steep, not in comparison to some that he'd seen around here, but he knew that rolling or even running down them wouldn't be even half as pleasant as it sounded. Maybe he could... No!Was it boredom that had him contemplating such frivolity, or was he-for once- acknowledging that he wasn't the grizzled old man he pretended to be? Hmph. Didn't matter either way.
Arching his neck up to get a better view, the Selwyn squinted in thought. If he fell it wouldn't kill him, he was pretty certain of that, but was it really worth the effort. He couldn't really afford to just piss around these days, after all he had to fend for himself and wasting energy like that seemed pretty childish. But on the other paw, when was the last time he'd actually had fun, done something just for the hell of it? Not in ages, if his memory served correctly. Even as a yearling he'd had this long, thorny stick up his butt and it was still there, firmly in place.
