Morning Bliss

Hirundo had stumbled upon a circle of large rocks as she strolled in the early morning sun. Her curiosity urged her forward, and the mare calmly began to pace towards the Runestones. It took her mere minutes to be face to face with one of the stones. Her head raised as she peered towards the tip of the stone, eyes gleaming with excitement. The woman leaned forward to curiously mouth at the rock, snorting gently at the texture. Hirundo pulled away from the rock, flicking her ears at the sound of the wind whistling through the formation.
The woman moved silently among the rocks, the gentle rain that woke her had dissipated just before she made her discovery. Her coat's sheen had been amplified by the rain, and the equine made no effort to brush it off. The sheen of rain cooled her and this was a welcome feeling to the mare. the mare continued her exploration of the rocks, stopping occasionally to sniff or observe something more closely. It seemed her companion was not with her during this particular stroll. The mare eventually realized the gentle pull she felt in her stomach was hunger, and out of respect for the Runestones, the mare moved away to graze. Hirundo paced over to a particularly green looking patch of grass far enough away from the Runestones that she felt no spirits would be angered. The golden horse silently began to tear away clover and grass, the only sound made was her gentle chewing. Her attention was completely on the runes as she grazed, occasionally raising her head to peer at them in awe. The woman then paused to peer around, appearing to have sensed something. In reality, Hirundo was searching for her companion, as she had begun to grow worried for him. She felt the gentle presence of another's eyes, her nose flaring as she searched for answers. She knew her companion would come if she called, but she wouldn't dare make noise with an unknown presence around. And so, the woman held her head high, her ears pivoting as she listened for any clues as to whose gaze she had felt on her back.
