Castiel
Alacritia. The lands were hardly familiar anymore, not when Castiel hadn't set paw here since he'd been a pup. His father had taken him many places, but one place that Nova hadn't set a paw in was home. The place the Castiel now sought out, carrying tidings of the death of the dire wolf that had raised him. Not exactly glad tidings, but the male felt an obligation to carry them anyways. At least they would not have to watch Nova fall beneath the hooves of a buffalo. Castiel shuddered at the memory, golden eyes closing in a vain attempt to ward off the ugly thoughts.

He had only recently made it to Alacritia, and hadn't the faintest idea as to where he ought to begin searching. Was Valhalla still in the West? Did his family even still live in Valhalla? He couldn't picture his mother anywhere else, but he'd been gone for almost two years. A lot could change in that time. After all, when Castiel had left, he had been a pup, and now he was a massive 39 inches tall, dwarfed by all but the largest of wolves. He had grown up - surely, Surreal, Lyric, and his other siblings had grown up as well. Had any of them left the nest?

There were so many questions, but Castiel didn't know how to find the answers. And so the white male sat for a moment, white haunches resting against the cool ground. What could he do but wait? In time he would head out, and put his nose to the grindstone, but for a moment it was nice to simply appreciate the fact that he had returned to his home. After two long years of wandering, Castiel had finally made his way back.

Meeting you was fate - becoming your friend was a choice

but falling in love with you was beyond my control.

The brute's paws struck the terra with a harsh rhythm. He needed something to do, he was bored. His belly was full from the fish he had caught earlier, using the tactics he had been taught so long ago by a male that he had met in this very area. As he was walking a scent filled his nostrils. Another man. He grinned, not the same warm grin that he used to give to people. This one did not reach his eyes. He followed the scent until the man came into his vision. A tall honey coloured wolf. Quite well muscled. Clearly he was used to fighting. Magnus grimaced, remembering the injury that would keep him from fighting to his full potential ever again. Most of the time he forgot about the missing limb. But when he reminded himself the memories were painful. Almost as painful as the gut wrenching heartache that he felt whenever he pictured Aurora's face.
He beautiful, sweet face. The face that would never smile and kiss him when he did something stupid. He cleared the grin from his face and put on a complete poker face and approached the man. Hello, what brings you to these lands? He kept his voice void of emotion. He awaited the reply

Castiel
Castiel was almost startled by the appearance by another wolf, but Castiel shouldn't have been. He still remembered how massive Alacritia had seemed to him when he was a child, but Castiel knew now that it was smaller - not by much, perhaps, but it was not unheard of for wolves to stumble across other wolves by pure coincidence. And so, when Castiel found his gaze settling on the similarly colored wolf, he inclined his head slightly, only the slightest flick of his ears betraying any surprise he might have felt at the other's appearance. "I have only recently returned to these lands," Castiel began hesitantly, unsure of how to explain himself. Did he mention his mother? But it seemed unlikely that this stranger would know his mother... That would be too much of a coincidence, right?

Castiel hesitated a moment longer before continuing, tail offering a lazy wave. "I'm seeking to return to my family. I have been separated from them for far too long." Castiel spoke simply, almost hoping that the stranger would ask about his family so that he could mention Erani and Surreal and everyone else. "And you, stranger?" The faintest of Russian accents tinged his words as Castiel settled back on his haunches, eyeing the white and black male curiously. Though the other male was missing a paw, Castiel hardly seemed to notice. It wasn't something he paid much attention to, as it meant little to the behemoth of a male.

The other had a poker face on par with Castiel's own, and Castiel hadn't the faintest idea that something was bothering the other, let alone something as large as the loss of a mate. It wasn't something that Castiel could exactly comprehend - romance had never been something he'd even considered, seeing as he'd spent most of his life wandering with Nova, who hadn't exactly encouraged these endeavors. But even if his father had, Castiel would probably be just as clueless as he was now. It just wasn't in him.
