Amaranth's morning had been spent running, which was pretty shitty in of itself. What, she needed "muscle mass" and "endurance" to hunt and survive effectively? ... Psh. Going after that buck with her sister had opened the young girl's eyes to what bringing down bigger game meant, and it wasn't a pretty picture. Sure, it was exciting and it had given her a boost of confidence, but it was so much work. Mara had covered a few miles at a lope with no particular direction in mind and was feeling pretty tuckered out by this point. Probably time for a break.

She peeled off from the game trail she'd been following and began to push her way through the year's first growth of young grass. The whole basin here was an endless prairie, or so it seemed, and she was grateful that she could still see over most of it. In the height of summer she'd probably lose her way in fifteen seconds flat but for now it was fine, almost like walking through a grass ocean. The blades tickled her underbelly and snagged around her ankles.

Mara looked around, trying to find any sort of elevation she could rest atop while still keeping a good eye on her surroundings. There was something to be said for the veil of safety found in knowing her family members were probably somewhere nearby, but it still paid to be careful. Mara made her way towards low knoll and sat down on top of it. Spring had been mild so far, a pleasant reprieve from the past winter. She could content herself, at least for now, breathing in the scents of the young meadow beneath a cloudless sky.

Polaris dared to adventure herself to warmer regions, setting her eyes forward the west of Boreas. She couldn't recall when was the last time she ever set a step out of her home, and it was just about time for her to give herself that chance. And like that she left her home's safety to adventure herself to anywhere unknown. She was confident that she would be able to find the way back to the north, the cold north she called her home. And she hoped her father wouldn't mind, she wasnt a pup anymore and with soo much happening in her life it was just fair to have some time to distract her mind from the loss she and her siblings got through.

And like that she found herself in a huge basin, with a big extension of land before her. It was beautiful and a place she could only compare with a paradise. Tall green grass coated the place, with a soft wind moving it making it look like an ocean,an ocean built-in greens instead of blues. Smiling shortly she adventured herself in, sniffing and eyeing anything she found interesting.

But despite how great the place was she still knew she had to pay attention to her surroundings, she couldn't allow her common sense to lose against childish desires, desires that were pushing her to do foolish things. She just wanted to acknowledge this new land but not at the cost of her life, she knew she was taking her leave before night. It could be dangerous for a young wolf like her to roam alone at night, she left because she was confident with traveling through the daylight.

There as she walked she stooped by a small creek that crept through a narrow vessel, enough for it to flow. She sat down and would drink a bit from it.

Perched on a low hill, barely more than a bump in the landscape, Mara found herself grateful for the vantage point. If the grass were even a few inches taller she wouldn't have been able to see the stranger off a ways in the distance, but now the light gray coat stood out clearly among the vibrant green backdrop. She pursed her lips and considered. Was it really worth the effort to go make introductions? Mara liked meeting new wolves usually, but she was awfully comfortable.

Of course, when she saw the other wolf stop for a drink, she figured she might as well be thirsty too. Mara stood and began to make her way in the gray wolf's direction. The closer she got, Mara began to realize that wow, this stranger was huge, even if she looked pretty young. It was just flat out weird to see someone who's body was proportioned like a yearling but who's size was definitely not. Usually Mara's big personality made up for her more-or-less average height but this was just unfair. "Hey!" She called out from a little ways away, stopping to drink as well a few yards upstream from the shewolf. Mara figured sneaking up someone who could probably twist her up into a knot was unwise. "Are you from around here?"

She wondered maybe if this wolf was from Valhalla too, but being upwind it was hard to tell. She had the smell of other wolves on her, and it wasn't quite the same as her dad's family had been, but what did she know? Valhalla was the only pack she'd interacted with so far. There were plenty of other questions circulating in her mind too, but... eh, she'd save those for later. Do you fight bears for fun, for example. Did you eat all your other siblings in the womb, perhaps. Great gods, what did your mother feed you? Yeah, she could save those until she figured out whether or not the other female would run her off into the sunset.
