Maggot had seen some wolves come in and out of Ashen Armada with small stings as well as a sticky goop in their fur. The girl was interested in the healing properties of the honey, as she had noticed that the stings seemed less swollen when honey was over them. She had taken her time peering at the stings, rather than covering them and cleaning them, and as such, had gotten a few glares from stung packmates. The girl decided to go and find some of this honey for herself and find a way to collect said honey with a lot less stings. She started her journey by heading to Redbud Nook, as she remembered seeing some bees buzzing around the last time she had been there. Her steps were light and her smile was wide as she trotted into the beginning of the Redbud Nook.
She paused to peer around, inhaling deeply to try and figure out where to start looking for bees. A soft buzzing caused her head to whip around towards the source, her eyes scanning the tops of flowers in the immediate area around her. She eventually spotted a small, fuzzy bee and she darted towards it. It wasn't spooked by her presence and continued gathering nectar from the flower it was perched on. She leaned down to peer closer at the bug, noticing the sharp stinger. She winced at the thought of being stung by one of those.
Mags waited for a few minutes, making herself comfortable as she watched the bee go to a few different flowers. Suddenly, the bee took off and Mags was quick to jump to her feet. She took off racing after the bee, grinning broadly. Mags was in hot pursuit of the bee, having to stay close unless she wanted to lose sight of the creature. It was just so small! The bee flew up the bark of a tree and disappeared into a brown-golden...fruit? Mags wasn't sure what it was, but it smelled a lot like honey.
The girl paused, sitting down at the base of the tree. She glanced around, trying to piece together a plan to get the honey down. Figuring she'd have to find something to launch at the hive, she stood and looked around for anything of interest. She padded over to a bush, tilting her head to peek into the depths of the bush. Spotting a rather thick stick, she crouched down to shimmy under the brush and snag the stick with her teeth. She pulled it from the bush, tossing it behind her to save for later.
Her next course of action was a way to avoid being stung, or to be stung as little as possible. Remembering how the bees were drawn to flowers, the girl decided she'd just roll in a bed of flowers before attempting to bring down the hive. She stretched her neck to peer around, searching for a relatively large patch of flowers. Spotting one that was a little smaller than she would've liked, she was quick to bound over to it. The girl flopped onto her side, wriggling around in the flowers. The pollen made her sneeze a few times, her entire body jolting with the force of it.
Once thoroughly coated in pollen and petals alike, she raced back to where she had her stick. She paused for a moment, realizing she had nothing to carry the honey with. That was a problem. She glanced around, deciding she would try and twist some grass to form a sort of rope. She sat down across from a tall patch of grass, grabbing a few blades within her jaws. She used her paws to hold the bottom of the blades of grass, twisting her paws back and forth to effectively twist the blades together. Once she had a sizeable string, that was a few twisted strands twisted together, she turned back to her big stick.
Mags picked up the stick, turning and bracing herself before running forward and slinging the stick with all her might at the hive. She managed to strike the lower half of the hive, knocking loose about a third of the hive. The girl took a moment to celebrate before she noticed the mass of bees emerging from the hole she created. She grimaced before diving for cover in a bush. She peeked through a gap in the leaves, watching as a few bees flew down to investigate her bush, at least two giving her affectionate stings that she had to bite her tongue in order to not cry out. However, a squirrel came along and the bees were quick to decide that it was the unfortunate soul they would chase. The swarm was quick to buzz after the squirrel and Mags whispered a soft "yes!"
The girl darted from where she had been hiding, wrapping the rope around the chunk of hive a few times and then grabbing the rope within her jaws. She hightailed it out of the area, running until she reached the edge of the Redbud Nook.
She dropped her prize to begin her investigation of the sweet honey. Finding a few stings on her forelimbs, she used her tongue to lap up some honey before smearing it all over the stings. It had a slightly soothing effect, and it was tasty. She figured it would be good for pups to use since it wouldn't give any bad side effects if they happened to ingest some. She wagged her tail at the thought of helping them. She looked around for some clover, mashing it between her teeth and creating a paste to lathe over the stings. The honey helped keep the clover on her wounds, and the clover helped keep the dirt out! She was proud of her findings and was quick to collect her supplies and head home to show her friends and her mentor.
