Wyndelin peeked up a willow tree then shook his head. Nope, no sign of bees here. His ears flicked forward as he searched for the sound of buzzing. He was hoping to gather honey with two other wolves, one of which he knew. He'd hunted a few times with Cairo but that was for more obvious prey. At least there seemed to be a good amount of dead wood around from the hot, windy day yesterday. Wyndelin would need that to make smoke to confuse the bees and hopefully disorient them long enough to gather the honey. He had to admit he felt rather bad about it. There was only so much the bees could make. Ideally they'd take a little from one and a little from another but as this was a competition Wyndelin wasn't sure that was an effective strategy. Maybe they could put it back? Was that a thing?

Probably not. Wyndelin scoured along the banks, his large ears suddenly flicking intently forward. "Hey guys, do you hear that? I think that sounds like buzzing bees." He hoped it was actually bees and not a giant, enthusiastic swarm of mosquitos. That would be just his luck to look like a total idiot by leading his comrades to a group of flies on a corpse or something. He sniffed the air. It did smell sweet but it was a bit hard to tell if what he was smelling was honey in the heady air of the glades.

He padded along wit the other two wolves, sapphire eyes scanning the air and foliage. He’d had more practice in finding bees, and had found a swarm that had tried settling here not that long ago. They had to have splintered from somewhere, right?

He was armored, not doubting for a moment that it would come in useful in keeping the insects from stinging him… at least on the torso. He really should add a neck guard to his armor. At Wyndelin’s remark, he paws, one paw lifted like a pointer as he tested the air with a sniff. Bee hives had a certain smell to them. It wasn’t just the sweetness of the honey, but the smell of the wax and the propolis they created.

He nodded toward the direction the scent was strongest from. “Smells like a hive in that direction. What do you think?”

He posed the second query to the golden man that made the third member of the honey hunting group.

Naiche followed the two wolves, senses open wide to all the life around them.  He had never been so far west before.  Life was everywhere, and the scents of mingling birds, amphibians, algae, and of course a wide variety of bugs.  It was only a while back he had spent far too much time following a bee until he reached the hive.  Naiche doubted he'd ever forget the smell of it, or the other bee's around. The bee scent had been in the hive as well as a sweeter scent of the beeswax inside of it.  Naiche couldn't label everything that gave the hive its scent, but it was a vivid picture in his mind.  As a small gust of breeze blew the scent to them a bit more Naiche nodded confidently, "yah, thats it.  Somewhere in that direction."

Hopping from one patch of grass to another to avoid splashing through water.  Naiche didn't bother looking at nearby tree's, confident he would know if a hive was there.  The young wheat-coated wolf would trust his sense of smell oversight whenever possible.  Things could be hidden from the eye but it was harder to hide a scent. The lean wolf was without any form of armor and was going was hoping his dense fur coat would be enough to avoid bee's stinging him.  "How much do you think we can actually carry back with us?" Going with the positive outlook of hopefully finding a large surplus of the honey.
