Pack training

With several dens crafted and the dividing walls in the process of being built, there was finally time for something other than digging and crafting. The Hallows was a place of relaxation, but it wasn't a place of laziness. Especially for those that called it home. There was training to be done.
Within the woods there was a clearing. Resin and Ulric had worked to create a ring with fallen trees. This would be the place where warriors would be made. It was a requirement for all those that claimed The Hallows as home to further their skills until they could confidently call themselves experts in their field. Today would be a day for warriors.
The Aegis; the leader; she called out for the fighters, the warriors, the brawlers. Today would be the start of their training, but it wouldn't be the end of it. She had a surprise in store for them as well. Something to make their training worthwhile. A goal to reach.

Resin was a leader who was easy to follow, firm but fair. She didn't ask for much and for the most part left everyone to their own devices, only calling when she had something important to say. As such Askan was quick to heed her call, breaking into a trot as he crossed the territory at an easy lope. The scene he arrived to gave him pause, there was a ring of fallen trees, equally spaced out with ample room in the middle. It didn't take a genius to figure out what Resin had in store, if anything it was about time she made the Hallow's warriors prove their mettle, given that she'd given them their ranks so freely. He slowed to a walk, rolling his shoulders in preparation for the test to come, though not before offering Resin a quick grumble in greeting. They both weren't the overly chatty sort, she'd understand.

Even though she knew full well that she shouldn't be going to any sort of training at the moment, she couldn't keep herself from getting up and hurrying off to answer Resin's call. She was clearly showing by now, but she wasn't so large that it was super difficult to get around. She was grateful that the heavy amount of morning sickness she had experienced early on had faded off and the nightmares that had been keeping her up were slowly becoming more infrequent. Now she just had to deal with her ever growing stomach and the fact that she had to be more careful about her activity and what she was doing. Even though Resin probably wouldn't allow her to fight, that didn't mean she didn't want to come and support all the same. When she arrived to the training area that Resin and Ulric had been spending some time preparing, she saw that it was just her lover and Askan thus far. It was still very soon after the call though so she wasn't that surprised. She went over to Resin's side and smiled as she leaned up to give the Aegis a light kiss before settling down beside her and gently leaning into her. Maybe she could at least judge the fights or something to make herself useful... Perhaps that was the worst part about being pregnant - feeling like her ability to help was becoming more and more limited. |

His days had become significantly more busy since coming to live in The Hallows with Resin. He'd wanted her to put him to work and she certainly didn't hold back. He'd been helping with the large amount of building and crafting that was involved with turning the Hot Springs and Sunset Falls into their ideal living arrangements. It was satisfying work being able to see things taking shape in front of his eyes and in a way it helped him feel like this was home. The mangroves had felt like that for so long it had been hard to leave them behind, but being able to put in so much work with Resin certainly helped him settle in. However, the last few days Azariah hadn't been feeling well and he had shifted his focus to her for the most part. He was by no means a healer, but he could at least fetch her things that she needed and make sure she was cared for. Resin's call for training came at a perfect time since his fiancé seemed to be feeling a bit better today and he wouldn't feel as guilty about leaving her alone for a while. He trotted away from their den and made his way to the fighting arena they had carved out among the forests that lined the Hot Springs and was happy to see that it was getting some use so soon. The large brute slowed to a steady walk a few feet away and came to settle among the group that had gathered so far, giving a friendly grin and nod to Resin and Tamsyn before offering one to the smaller male beside him as well. |

Dunkan did hear the call but almost missed it as he was doing his everyday patrols and today the training caught him a bit far. But as soon as he heard it, as soon as it reached his ears he sent off toward where he supposed Resin could be. With eyes cold as always and a confident walk he made his way within the ring of trees and there he saw them. He didnt care of he wasnt the first to arrive, he was doing his duties after all and there ignoring almost everyone there he sat down and looked coldly at Resin, waiting on any instructions, he woke up with the wrong paw today. He wouldnt hold on bullshit today. "Speech" |

Askan was first as she expected. Though gruff, she appreciated his lack of verbosity. There was little that needed to be said and so when he grunted a greeting, she gave him a nod and nothing more. Tamsyn was next and Resin narrowed her gaze at her lover slightly. If Tam thought she was fighting... The smaller woman sat beside her and Resin accepted the nuzzle, giving one in turn. She was more than free to observe. Next was Ulric, the man that she was training to be alpha of his own pack. She nodded to him and offered the barest of smiles. Last was Dunkan, looking as though he was still sulking. Resin fixed him with a hard stare as he sat. They needed to do something about him. If he continued to wallow in his own self-pity, he wouldn't be an asset to the pack.
When it looked as though no more would arrive, Resin began. "A requirement of being a member of The Hallows is to push yourself in your skill set until you are a master of your craft. As such, training is a necessity. I'm holding this session today, but I encourage you to train on your own or with others whenever you're able." The woman's singular golden gaze rested upon each face, allowing the opportunity for questions if there were any. "Today, I'll have you spar one another. I'll also answer any questions that you may have in regards to battle or tactics."
The ash and onyx woman looked to Askan first. "Since you were the first to heed my call, I'll allow you to choose your opponent." Her gaze flicked to the woman beside her. "Only Tamsyn is off limits." Yes, that meant that he could choose to fight her as well. She was curious to see what he chose.
(OOC- Judged fights are fine if you wish. Or you can claim 15 points for participating in fight training.)

Askan listened well, considering Resin's words with a slight squint. His gaze roamed over all those who had gathered, skipping over Tamsyn since she was starting to get a little...round. Not that it was any of his business. He hadn't really gotten to know anyone present here, they were just familiar faces that he could probably put a name to, and thus he had no way to gauge their abilities. Askan, despite his bluster, had a lot to learn and was willing to take this as a chance to improve himself. If they were all meant to defend the Hallows it was probably a good idea to learn what they were each capable of, to make up for what the others lacked.
"Ulric." Askan chose after a moment of consideration. He was far larger than Askan and...in all honesty he quite liked the idea of knocking him on his arse. Just to prove that size wasn't everything.

There was a small group of fighters, but he didn't think that was necessarily a bad thing for a training session. It was much easier to get to know one another and to be able to see where they each stood in their skills. He focused his attention on Resin as she spoke, nodding in agreement when she told them that training and mastering their skills was a necessity. Knowledge and strength were very powerful in his mind so he was happy to see they were all on the same page in that regard. The decision of who would spar with who was left to Askan and he turned a curious silver gaze toward the smaller male. A pleased grin pulled at his lips when he was chosen to be his opponent and he immediately began to size up his fellow Templar. Even though Askan was much smaller than himself, he had learned from experience that there was a lot to be said about being smaller and lighter on your feet. Sure, he was heavier and could certainly take a hit, but getting a hold of Askan was sure to prove difficult. He rose to his paws with a shake of his fur as he moved toward the center of the arena of sorts they had created. "I haven't had a good fight in a while... Hopefully you can be a challenge," he commented with a good humored, teasing grin before settling into his defenses in front of the younger man and allowed him to do the same. (If you want to do a judged spar you can start the first round! Maybe in a separate thread? Or if you want to just do an unjudged one for the training thread we can do that too!) |

(sorry im soo slow with kana)
Askan wasn't sure what sort of reaction to expect from his chosen opponent. He knew jack shit about him but Askan was quick to jump to conclusions, to assume that cause he was big and strong-whatever- it made him cocky. He was 100%, no doubt about it projecting, but that didn't really matter nor did he care to acknowledge that just yet. He just wanted to get this damn show on the road. Simply grunting in acknowledgement of Ulric's words, Askan shifted his stance and tucked his chin as he tensed his limbs. As the Emirate's heir he hadn't received all that much fight training, since it was supposed to be oh so beneath him, but that hadn't stopped the Selwyn from trying. From forcing others paws and getting into scraps. For what he lacked in experience he more than made up for in vigour and drive. He could do this, he'd knock Ulric down on his arse in no time at all.
Hopefully. Cause the thought of making a fool of himself in front of everyone made him feel more than a little queasy.
Pulling in a long, steadying breath, Askan dipped in low and rushed in for an frontal assault. Ulric was a big boy and with that Askan was spoiled for choice when it came to targets, but the Selwyn was a man of habit and opted to start off with a shoulder charge. You know, the basics, a tried and tested method that had knocked a feel folks off their paws a time or two. Though he'd never tried it on someone like Ulric...oh well.
