Halla found the man she'd met at the party amusing in an awkward sort of way. She had no intention of bedding him but he had an interesting look into various herbs she'd never worked with. Today, however, she was beginning to second guess her interest. She wrinkled her nose at the smell of the garlic he'd brought with him. Halla trotted back toward their camp site, bundles of yarrow in her jaws bouncing as she went. She planned to make some yarrow tea for her stuffed nose and a poultice mixture that could be used on wounds. First she needed to get all the leaves off the plant. Tea was typically made with the dried herbs but she wanted to give the fresh a try and see how it compared. using her teeth Svala started stripping off the leaves and placing them into piles. She worked until she had two small piles that she could use for her projects.

Káti was delighted to meet the healer from the party and even happier to hear that she was fine with spending a few days together crafting and sharing knowledge. She was pretty, but he was more interested in friendship. He couldn't imagine dating someone more than a year younger than himself.

Káti examined their fire for a moment and decided it was about ready to go. Digging through his bundle he pulled out a couple bulbs of garlic. They smelt strongly to his nose but he reminded himself that the smell was from the healing properties. He wanted to make an infusion as well as a poultice for a nasty cut she'd sustained on her left hind leg. He settled down and chewed the tops off the top of the bulbs, wrinkling his hose at the taste. He'd leave the one bulb whole but the other he'd need to get the juice out of. Taking his bone knife she worked to cut it in half.

There was a sound of one of willows tree’s shivering at a point when no wind blew. A pangolin was climbing down the tree, its tail wrapping around a weak branch as if it could actually help keep him safe from falling.  It didn’t matter, the creatures strong claws were enough to let it climb all the way down without mishap.  The scaley mammal regarded the two wolves calmly, even going so far as to wave at them.  The scents of the herbs had drawn him in, not that he wanted them so much as intrigued by a smell that it though would normally attract bugs. A bit farther back there was a voice calling out, “Hey Pan, can’t you at least stay near the tree I leave you in?”  He knew Pan’s scent perfectly well but since it tended to go by tree when it could Naiche was having to primarily just scent air versus ground for the pangolin and it was taking longer to pinpoint this way.  There did come a point where the wolf would look over to spot the other two wolves.  Yes, his social pangolin very likely was with them.   Naiche headed towards them, keeping his body relaxed to not give any wrong ideas, but not bothering to raise his voice for a hello.  The gold-toned wolf could wait till he was closer unless they looked worried. Pulling two ceramic bowls from her bundle she got to work. Taking one small pile of yarrow leaves she placed them into one of the ceramic bowls. She took the other pile and placed them in the other ceramic bowl but for the poultice she'd need to make sure the leaves were good and bruised. Taking her deer fibula she aimed the ball of the bone down and mashed the leaves into a good pulp. Halla worked diligently, pausing only when she heard something moving in a nearby tree. She looked up and stared in shock at the unusual creature that waved as it climbed down. What on earth was that! Her first thought was that it was some sort of lizard based on its scaly form. Not long after a golden wolf appeared. She watched silently, trying to piece together what was going on.

With the garlic bulb cut in half, Káti used his claws to flick the cloves out into a bowl. When he was satisfied with the amount he had he took a deer fibula and started using it to mash the garlic cloves. He wanted to get it mashed well to the point he could use it in a poultice. He took a little water and added it to the bowl to help with the mash and he continued til it was the right consistency. Well that was one bulb taking care of.

He turned her attention to the whole bulb and added it to a deeper ceramic bowl. Taking the bowl over to the stream she filled it until he had the bulb covered. Káti trotted back, setting the bowl down. He looked up, saw the pangolin and gasped in surprise. "What is that?" Before he could say more another wolf appeared. Káti turned to look at him then pointed with a paw toward the pangolin. "What is that? Is that yours?"

After waving hi and seeing what they were up to Pan looked about, keeping quietly to himself.  There was smelly stuff that he imagined bugs liking but no bugs appeared to have come in mass droves.  Oh well.  He looked over and waved at Naiche when he showed up. Naiche gave a curious look to Pan wondering what had made the pangolin decide to visit strangers.  Did he understand not all wolves would be his friends? Was he drawn to all strange wolves?  Neither of these wolves seemed to be ones he’d expect trouble from, fortunately.  Getting closer the smell of the herbs that they were using demanded to be the main focus of his nose and he was finding no particular love of the garlic. “Pan?” Glancing to his little friend the wolf questioned him on, “he’s a pangolin, and yah he’s with me.  He eats ants and termites mostly.  Pretty harmless.” Naiche said that even as he looked his little pangolin over as others saw it.  Scaley body and some pretty impressive sets of claws.  The long face that tapered down was in Naiche’s mind the main thing that killed a look of aggression, but still to people who had not seen one maybe that wasn’t enough. Kati loudly exclaimed when he saw the creature. The golden wolf explained that the creature was something called a "pangolin". It was rather interesting though she still had work to do. "Are you taking him out for a walk?" Halla grabbed her water skin and carefully poured in a bout a pint of water to the bowl. She then scooted the mixture toward the fire. For the poultice she added just a touch of water and then scooted that bowl near the fire as well, seeking to heat it just a little bit but not near as much as she would with the tea. .

Káti glanced at the creature again. "Huh, that's interesting. I've never seen one before, do they live around here?" Káti talked while he continued to work.

Once the bulb was covered in water, Káti added a bit of vinegar to the mix so he could boil it down into a syrup. He could sweeten it with honey later. He scooted the bowl toward the fire so it could heat to boiling. In the mean time he turned his attention to the poultice. He licked at his wound, making sure it was relatively clean before he took a piece of sphagnum moss and dipped it in the garlic paste, encouraging it to soak up the juice. Once that was done he applied it to the wound, wincing as it stung for a moment before he settled back down. "My name is Káti by the way. And this is Halla."

Taking Pan for a walk?  Naiche thought about that statement with some amusement.  When did he take Pan for walks? It was now a mindless task to let Pan climb on his back.  The pangolin just couldn’t move as fast as Naiche and the wheat-toned wolf wasn’t all that patient at times.  Originally he had planned to just use the little guy as a tool for fighting, but now it really was more of a pet. “No, not really.  I had left him near a rotten tree where I thought he’d stay for the food.  He wasn’t there when I get back.”  Naiche glanced over and down where Pan was heading towards him. The pangolin ran on his back feet, hunched over with the hands kept close to its body and claws curled up so they looked less threatening, and his long tail horizontal to the ground.  When it reached Naiche it looked up expectantly at Naiche’s shoulder, but for a moment at least he was ignored as Naiche was talking with the strangers.  Naiche knew nothing of herbs, poultices, and other medical stuff, only enough to know that’s the sort of thing they were doing.  Some healing stuff, his eyes flicked to the injury being treated. “I’m Naiche,”  the young male nodded in greeting.  He thought of asking on the injury but if the wolf was keeping up a mindless conversation like this then it must not be too bad and besides, he wasn’t pack.  “No, Pangolins aren’t common here.  This one was purchased from another wolf.” Speech:"Live to fight" Think
